I think T.U.T.S. holds their performances at the Hobby Center.

Check out these sites. It's a beautiful indoor facility.

not 100 percent sure . but i think under the stars is the outdoor theater in or near herman park. it is walking distance from the medical center and rice university.

Re: Re: Musical in Houston

Nope, Delcity...

That's the Miller Outdoor Theatre. That's another great experience though! It's free to sit on the hill, bring a blanket and have a picnic and watch the show. You pay for the seats below, but if I remember right, it's really inexpensive. Seen some Shakespeare there!

Checked the Theatre Under the Stars Website. The performance that Ray is looking for is definitely in the Theatre I listed above. There is a big star mural of sorts on the ceiling, and some really big names come and perform there. I've seen other posts other places saying they don't understand why it's called Theatre Under the Stars...but I think it's the big mural and the big names!

Travel Tips for Houston

Shopping Harwin

by GroovyDoc

If you like to find bargains, go shopping on Harwin in the Westchase area. It consists of about 1-2 miles worth of shopping plazas full of great bargain/off-brand merchandise. The most popular things to buy are purses (knock-off Gucci, Kate Spade, etc) and jewlery. There's also a large Indian/Pakistani population in that area, so if you are looking for ornate fabrics or furniture, this is the place.

Light Rail?

by frankcanfly

In Baltimore we call this the Light Rail service, I don't remember what it's called here.

It's a one-line service for now, with future expansion planned. Basically follows Main Street....

This service just opened up in January '04. Since then, there have been over 35 Car-vs-Train accidents.

The most common cause? Cars illegally turning left, right in front of the trolleys.

Best Food Around

by msbrandysue about Cheesecake Factory

The Cheesecake Factory encompasses it all. It has a fun atmosphere, great bar, chic style, nice waiters, great food, and even better dessert. When you hear the name Cheesecake Factory you may think it's only dessert. Oh my goodness, do not make that mistake! The food is absolutely wonderful. The 27 page menu offers variety upon variety. Anything you want is here. Any type of food is available.

And, yes, you have to have some cheesecake. I believe they have over 50 types of cheesecakes with other desserts including cakes and pies.

Not in the mood to sit in a nice dining area? Take some to go! You can order any of the food and dessert to go if you would rather relax in your room.

Do not miss this place! It's a great date place, as well, if you want a special evening.

Again, this is a franchise so there are many restaurants in the area. Check out the store locator on the website to find the one closest to you. However, in Houston I would recommend going to the one in the Woodlands. You can get away from the city and it is set right off of the mall with a nice little lake area around it. It's right beside a Barnes and Noble...so while I wait for the table I go buy a book or two!

Monday - Thursday 11:00 am - 11:00 pm
Friday & Saturday 11:00 am - 12:30 am
Sunday 10:00 am - 11:00 pm The best appetizer is the avacado eggrolls. I would either order these as a meal, though, or share them with others.
My favorite entree is the spicy chicken nachos (which is actually under the 5 page appetizer menu).
All the cheesecakes are unbelievable!
If you want to order drinks I enjoyed the Mai Tai, and the Godiva Chocolate Martini is strong!

Transco Fountain

by ATXtraveler

One of the nicest landmarks throughout the Houston area is Transco Fountain, which is a park of the Williams Tower Complex. The fountain is part of a larger 3 acre park area which was designed by Richard Fitzgerald and Partners. This fountain is a very popular spot for wedding photos to be taken, and is very beautiful.

It is located off 610, a little south of the Galleria and just north of Highway 59.

The Woodlands Waterway

by H-TownJourneyman

The Woodlands Waterway is a recently developed marine thoroughfare through an entertainment, dining, & shopping area of The Woodlands. In future years with much developement planned for it, it is anticipated that it will be a popular means of getting around to various sites in this area. Pick up points include The Woodlands Mall & The Woodlands Waterway Marriott, with the outdoor gathering area of Market Street and the event and concert location of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion nearby. Whether you have an actual destination in mind, or just feel like a short boat ride, it's a fun activity to partake in while in The Woodlands.
