Upon our initial trip down to Houston, we stayed in the Comfort Inn up by I-10 near Galena Park. Pretty nice and typical hotel for a chain. We ended up having to drive down to Brownsville/McAllen and then, once done with work there, we returned to Houston.
The company put us up in the Regency. Let's just say that despite the run-down look of the area, we were highly surprised to discover that this hotel was just plain wonderful!
From the decor of the room to the service provided by the staff, we found ourselves in hotel "heaven" compared to what we usually experience.
Tasty free continental breakfast, a business center, and when we needed extra towels for hot tub relaxation no problems from the staff in getting them. Also, the room was cleaned immaculately each day.
Highly recommended!!!!!
Unique Quality: The painting of the ceiling to look like a sky was extremely pleasing to the eye. Granite sink countertop, granite walls around the tub, the boombox, the dvd player, a huge flat screen tv, a frig and microwave and coffeemaker (not to mention the REAL coffee mugs instead of styrofoam!), the most comfy bed I've ever slept in in a hotel, the soft pale blue sheets, the towels that felt like real towels and not sandpaper. All quite outstanding!
