Curiously nice

I've stayed here three or four times in the last few years, and it is a realiable, convenient, and curiously nice and odd hotel. Located on the side of Interstate 59 yet still a bit hard to access, it's not exactly any type of hotel. Suitable for business, it used to attract a lot of sports fans who would attend the Houston Rockets games next door. Now that the Rockets have moved to another venue, there is still a bit of the sports bar atmosphere to this hotel. Odd with its rare Houston tunnels attaching it to Greenway Plaza. This hotel is surprisingly quiet, with attentive service, more than adequate underground parking, and is very conveniently located for downtown, Greenway Plaza, the Medical Center, and the Galleria. The food is adequate if somewhat uninspiring. Due to the abundance of odd tunnels and "adult" buildings in which to freely roam, my sons always like to stay here. Skateboarders surreptiously practice on the ramps nearby, meetings can be held, a famous megachurch is across the street, and there are movie cinemas nearby. It has that odd Houston feel to it - neither here nor there, but pretty darn nice.

Unique Quality: Very urban yet roomy and safe feel to it.

The Renaissance Houston Hotel was very nice. If you are looking for luxury, you won't find it here, but it was comfortable and had friendly staff.

Friendly atmosphere

I have no complaints about this hotel. Staff was friendly, it had everything I needed in terms of amenities. I would stay here again and would reccommend it to other visitors into Houston.

Unique Quality: It's close enough to downtown that a short taxi ride will take care of, yet just far enough out of the hustle and bustle of the downtown life of a major city. It's adjacent to a very small shopping mall, if you could call it that. It's really, really small. There are some restaurants close by if you feel like walking.
