Hi Guys,
I am writing to this forum for my brother who is on his way to Houston. He is driving up in his truck rental with his wife and seven yr old son. He is staying with some friends in Sugarland and hopes to find a place in that area. Can any of you who know this area let him know about Rental Apartments in the area he can check out.
He is looking for a 1/1. I will pass the information on to him from you guys. Thanks a million.
Hey. Finding an apartment shouldn't be hard, because a lot of apartment communities link up with movers and apartment finders. I would say that when he gets there, just drive around a little and see what's around the area he likes...
Not the best advice, but housing isn't as tight as it is in other places in the US, so there's plenty to choose from. Good luck!
he might want to check out a site called moveforfree.com
i know he's got his truck and such.. but thats what my sister and i used on 3 different occasions and were very pleased.
good luck to your brother and welcome to houston!

There are two major airports, IAH and Hobby. IAH is about 30 minutes north of town (depending on traffic). Hobby is about 30 minutes south of town toward NASA.
You really need a car to get around to all the cool stuff
This restaurant is very special because the food is not your ordinary Indian fare, but rather a haute-cuisine, gourmet interpretation of it. It is amazing! Everything was delicately spiced, and with subtle unusual flavors or association of flavors. And, they have a particular pride in their wine list. It is very rare in my experience in the US or Europe to find good wines in an Indian restaurant. Service impeccable, friendly waiters, exceptional meals, good wine... what more do you want?
By the way, the chef, Kiran Verma is a lady who owns another Indian restaurant in Houston, Ashiana (I have never been to that one). I recommand this restaurant for a romantic evening or for business travellers. They had a little menu for $55 with tuna & crab appetizer (see picture), than quail or hallibut, than amazing lamb chop curry, and finally 3 different flavors of creme brûlée. All were to die for.
Home of the Houston Astros, Minute Maid Park (originally Enron Field) was completed in 2000, replacing the Astrodome. Integrated into the stadium design was the entrance to historic Union Station, built in 1911. The stadium was built at a cost of approx $250 million and can hold over 40,000 fans. The roof at the park is retractable allowing the Astros to play in open air when weather permits; but there is also a huge glass wall on the west side of the stadium to allow in plenty of daylight.
Here's a short video I shot at the park when Willy Tavares was batting then hit by a pitch...http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=2022392696
This excellent little museum narrates the history of printing from the Gutenberg press (a reproduction of the press and the Gutenberg bible on exhibit) to the present day. I found particularly fun the old newspaper frontpages from the 19th century to the present featuring the main history events (for example, wars, natural catastrophy, walk on the Moon,...). Pleasant... and empty of people!
Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10-5, and Sunday, 12:30-5
Fees: $5 for adults, $2 for students and seniors, parking free.
