Irving’s First Public Library
Irving's first library building was opened in 1941. Mrs Esther Hurwitz purchased a 5 bedroom house for $1,000 and in 1951 had the house moved to Main Street where she operated the library until 1962. The city then decided to support the library system and build a new Municipal library at N. O’Connor Rd.
