Old Aldridge Saw Mill
Just outside of Jasper Texas in the Angelina National Forrest is all that remains of several old timber towns. This picture is a side view of the mail building of the Old Aldridge Saw Mill.
Just to the left of where this picture was taken is what remains of the mill pond. This area can be approached by car or by bike. There is also a hiking trail that jopins Old Aldridge to Boykin Springs Park about three miles away..
This picture shows the front of the main building and the main sawing building on the right side.
The hole in the building on the right was made when they closed the mill. They had to break through the concrete wall to get the boiler out of the building.
Between the buildings you can see the flat surface of a concrete platform that probably supported some type of water source for the boiler.
The main building is supposed to have been an administration building and perhaps some type of store.
Behind the main buliding is another two story building that seems to have been a lumber drying building. A fourth storage building was recently destroyed by the forest services because its danger of collapse.
