"The San Jacinto Battleground State Park"
The San Jacinto Battleground State Park is in La Porte although I have seen it listed in Houston and Deer Park but since the Texas Parks and Wildlife state La Porte - I will go with that.
The site has huge historical significance for Texas and the United States. The famous battle of San Jacinto which brought Texas its independence was fought on this site and changed its course of history. Because of this, the site is now a National Historic Landmark. This 1,200 acre site commemorates the Battle and preserves the battleground on which General Sam Houston and his troops achieved Texas independence by defeating a Mexican Army led by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna on April 21. 1836.
On this site is the Battleground, Monument and Battleship "Texas".
