Medical question

by rjeubanks

It looks like I may have to have a PACEMAKER installed. I have IMSS (Mexican insurance) but it does not cover pacemakers except in an emergency. I have Medicare which does. I am planning on catching a bus to Laredo to use Medicare and need to know the name of a inexpensive hospital and doctor. Thank you for your help.

Re: Medical question

You don't want an inexpensive doctor to do your pacemaker. You want someone who has done many of them before and is an expert in his field. Just my opinion. Look up cardiologists on the American Medical Association's website, and see if you can find a board-certified cardiologist in Laredo. I'm sure there are a few.

Travel Tips for Laredo

For all intents and purposes...

by wondertrev

For all intents and purposes (language, food, efficiency,etc...) you're in Mexico already.
Also, if you're not a local, and venture outside of the tourist areas, don't be surprised by brusque treatment. There are some very nice people here, but the town is rather backwards, and the locals are muy defensive and provincial. They are not used to American efficiency. After all, 1/3rd of the town was born across.
