Stuck in a place you can't get out of
"arriving to the place"
After one year of work in Mexico, I wanted my vacation. Destination: Florida, USA. My aunt had been living in Florida for 45 years at the time. All of my familymembers had been there but I had never ever seen her house or visited her. I was close, so I though I should do it. My entrypoint to the US was through the customs in Hidalgo, Tx where I was given an IW19 - visa for European tourists entering from the Mexico. 100s of Mexicans sitting there and waiting, I felt really bad that I could just enter with only a few questions like "will you seek employment in the US", and" how much money did you bring?". Once through I did not know where was the nearest place to stay. The cab driver took me to McAllen where I booked 2 days at the Imperial Motor Inn. I needed no more I said.....
"2 days become 11"
Unfortunately getting out of McAllen after 2 days wasn't going to happen. My bank had troubles wiring the amount of money to the Texas Chase Bank I needed to get a car and get ahead. I had to wait about 9 days more in the place, before I got the money. So would you know I got to know this city like the backpocket of my pants. LaPlaza mall, the cinema where I caught 2 movies, the main street, the eating places, the disco, the usual cab driver and the clerk at the motel (Hi Jovaan, if you read this then you probably remember ?). thank God there was a pool by the place. Finally the money came. I took all 3800 dollars out that they wired from my Danish account, went to Raul Motors (Raul Motors 420 South 23rd Street McAllen, TX (Texas)), and bought the 91 Thunderbird I had been wanting. After that I got an insurance and I was good to go. Car was really smooth.
