Pumpkinfest
by keeweechic
Pumpkinfest is held the last Saturday (roughly) before Halloween in downtown Mesquite. There are inflatable rides and games, a cakewalk, craft and food vendors and of course food.
It’s a fun time for the kids who can enter into the Costume contents and win goody bags for themselves. I think though the adults get more fun out of it than the kids themselves whose faces told other stories most of the time.

by keeweechic
Motley Cemetery is on the grounds of Eastfield College. Zachariah and Mary Motley arrived in Mesquite by wagon train from Kentucky in 1856 with their family. They were one of a few families who brought slaves with them. They settled on what is now Eastfield College.
The cemetery is listed on the Texas Historical Register.

by keeweechic
One of the small parks in Mesquite with a man-made lake with fishing piers. The park takes up 88.21 acres and aside from the lake there is a picnic pavilion with picnic tables. On Pioneer Road side of the park is an athletic complex with 4 lighted baseball fields, 3 football fields and restroom facilities. The 1.14mile path around the lake is popular with joggers and walkers.
