The Balloon Festival was last weekend. (The scheduled date for next year is September, 19, 20, & 21, 2008) We went to it.

Plano, Texas 75074 Each year they have special shapes. This year, the special shapes included: Energizer Bunny, Felix the Cat, and Upside Down Humpty Dumpty.

There are also sponsored balloons (like ReMax). It is a very colorful photo-op and family friendly activity.

St. Philopateer Coptic Orthodox Church

I had never heard of this church before but the architecture caught my eye. “Copt” is derived from the ancient Greek name of Egypt “Aigyptus”. The Coptic Church was the originator of the monastic movement in all its forms and it is well known for her numerous saints, ascetics, clergymen and laymen.

Opens from 10am - 10pm everyday with free wi-fi (security enabled)... multiple varieties of bubble tea, smoothies and coffee drinks, karaoke (new) and friendly service. What's not to like?

There are two Boba Latte so far. One in Plano which is at the Plano Chinatown... same plaza as Asia World Supermarket and the other in Richardson. I've been to the one in Plano twice.
The last time was Memorial Weekend of '08. There were 2 guys working there. Husband and I had Lychee and Avocado smoothies with pearl. They were out of Jackfruit that time. Dang. Both drinks were good, though the Avocado smoothie I had was a tad too creamy and not so icey-cold. For a large smoothie, it costs about $4.

Usually, younger people like the students like hanging out here. Free wi-fi I think? You'd need a password to access the wi-fi connection. Just ask the staff and they'll give it to you.

It is on State Highway 75 fifteen miles north of Dallas in central Collin County and is a bit south of Frisco.

By the mid-1980s Plano had become the commercial, financial, and education center for Collin County with an estimated 1,000 businesses. It was the corporate home of qv a satellite communication system, and computer manufacturers. At one time, Plano was the location of Plano University, but that institution is no longer in existance.
