Nice links course
by hoofhearted
We played this Arnold Palmer designed, links-style course at Port Aransas, TX. We played as a twosome and enjoyed a leisurely pace for the entire 18. As of February, 2009, they have not completed the clubhouse. Right now they are working out of a "portable", but very friendly staff. Lots of extra balls!

"Nice central area to explore from,,"
Port Aransas is a pleasant little tourist town on Padre Island with nice people! A relaxed atmosphere especially on the quiet weekdays in April. On the weekends though lookout for the weekend travellers and finding a nice hotel room can be a bit of a chore! I camped on the beach for a few nights until I got chased off by a thunder storm with high winds, adding to the excitement. On other nights I stayed in some nice motels though a little pricey for my pocket book I made do especially to get out the sand from the nooks and crannies. the local supermarket has a nice selection of food and I cooked mainly for the duration of the stay, using mostly charcoal. It was great. Texas ribs and potatoes with veggies and fruit to back them up . In the general area I took in the Uss Lexington, state aquarium, and of course the local bird watching opportunities. The brown pelican being my favourite. The small ferries crossing over to Aransas Pass are a worthwhile trip and you can drive around in a circle over the Corpus Bridge to the city and back out to the Island. Ocean View(?) drive along the waterfront is a nice area to look at some great homes and some nice parks to relax in .
