USCG Station
by kyoub
A Life Saving Station authorized by congress opened here in 1880 and later became the US Coast Guard Station. There is an 82 foot cutter that operates from here covering the Gulf from Freeport to Brownsville, and four search and rescue boats also operating from here.
Visitors usually can visit the center and the boasts if they are at the center.
Family Trip to Port Aransas

"Beach"
The beach was pretty nice. I was informed by a local that we picked the wrong time to come because the seaweed was washing up on shore so bad. If we would have come a couple weeks later the water would have been clear of it. Instead we were almost swept away by all the sea weed washed up on shore. It was still nice though. It didn't seem to bother my daughter, my son on the other hand hated it!
"Dolphin Watch"
We went on a nice little boat ride to watch dolphins. The couple who ran the trip were WONDERFUL and very informative. It was a nice ride and we really enjoyed ourselves.
"Tourist Traps!"
There were plenty of tourist shops to get all your port aransas souveniers. There were alot of fun picture opportunities. I think we did just about every one! A little bit of fun in the middle of town!
