I stayed at the Best Western Inn Salado in May 2012. The place is crawling with bugs - in the lobby, in the air conditioner, in the carpets and in the bathrooms (including the shower curtains!). I've written a full review on Yelp that includes photo evidence, but I'll also post some photos here. Despite being on the 3rd floor and being put in two different rooms, there were large carpenter ants and beetles everywhere. The owner of the hotel would not refund my money (even when I said I could produce photos) and said that he "couldn't do anything about the bugs." If they don't care about dealing with the big bugs, I bet they don't do much for bed bugs either. Stay away!
Unique Quality: insects, terrible neon yellow wall paint in guest rooms.

This old building now houses chamber of commerce-type activity. Here you can find some wonderful posters of Salado for sale, and other items that vary from time to time. Public restrooms are available here as well
Its on the north end of town.
