airpot transportation to Riverwalk
by dmgr3
What is the best and most reasonable way from the San Antonio airport to a Riverwalk hotel? We're traveling the end of Sept.
Re: airpot transportation to Riverwalk

There are taxis easily available and it would be the most convenient and cheapest way for a family to go from the airport to riverwalk area. if you are alone, a shuttle may be cheaper. if you are more than two and have luggage, I recommend a taxi. if you plan to travel outside of san antonio during your stay, think of renting a car, which you can do at the airport or at their locations in the downtown area. Avis has an office conveniently located in downtown
Travel Tips for San Antonio
La Villita Amphitheatre
by ATXtraveler
The Shops at La Villita are a major attraction for the shoppers in the group, however if you are like me and can take it or leave it going through tens of little shops selling similar souvenirs, then I would recommend walking to the river side of the shops, and enjoying some music in the open air amphitheatre. There always seems to be something playing here, and when we went there was some sort of band orchestra competition, which meant we were able to hear a great number of songs for free! The steps are made of concrete and double for seats, so if your rear is not as well padded as mine is, it would be in your best interest to bring a cushion or folding chair.
Flora - Mexican Heather
by ATXtraveler
One of the most used landscaping plants in San Antonio is Mexican Heather. The actual plant name is Cuphea hyssopifolia of the Lythraceae or loosestrife family.
Mexican Heather is a beautiful low growing plant with purple or some white blossoms, and is used primarily as a cover plant. Unlike some of the cactus plants, you will have no worries accidentally running into this plant, as it is much softer on the skin than the prickly cacti.
I was staying in El Paso ........
by Ben-UK
I was staying in El Paso ..... I'd always wanted to see San Antonio & the Alamo, but I only had one day free, so I took an overnight Greyhound bus from El Paso to San Antonio .. stayed there for one day then travelled back ovenight to El Paso .... crazy, I know ... but it was worth it.
Rock Out on the Riverwalk
by starrlot about Hard Rock Cafe
We had a birthday party here for my son who turned 16, and the staff couldn't have been more accomodating in making it feel like the world revolved around my son.
Parking is limited, so taking a taxi if you are staying close to the restaurant is best. Wait times are not long at all if you get their before peak times. Even if you must wait, their Hard Rock shop definitely causes the time to pass fast.
The food is really good, American classic favorites are the highlights and you will not leave hungry. Service was excellent and the memorabilia is exciting with some key pieces from their collection featured in the SA location.
At the end of the meal, our server brought my son to the grand staircase to get the attention of everyone in the cafe to wish him a happy birthday. You would have thought my son was a rock star, at least he felt like one. Their burgers (any one of them) and milkshake.
The Riverwalk
by inkblotgirl
The Riverwalk is very pretty with it's shops & restaurants. Just becareful of the prices...they'll getcha. Also, Rivercenter mall is a great place to shop. Try the Menger Hotel if you're into ghosts (it's supposedly haunted).
