Alamo Dome
San Antonio is known for it's gigantic Alamodome. It's a large footbal stadium right in the middle of downtown. Footbal stadium??? Yeap, we don't even have a team, but one of our old majors got the crazy idea built up.

If you feel like shopping or if you are looking for an air-conditioned place to get away from the heat, River Center is a pretty good option. It is located right by the Riverwalk so it is very easy to find, and there's a good mix of regular stores and specialty/souvenir shops. River boat tours also start from this shopping center. A Spurs jersey?!
Boudro's was highly recommended everywhere I looked so I wanted to be sure to stop here for at least one meal. On Sunday when we stopped for dinner, there was an hour wait so we came back the next day for lunch. Lunch is a more affordable than dinner plus easier to get a table but the menu is entirely different. I would highly recommend making reservations if you want to eat there for dinner, it appears you can do so on the website listed below.
We got a table right on the Riverwalk, they do have umbrellas for shade but when the sun moved it became quite hot. Guacamole ($8 for 2 people) is a must here, it's prepared tableside for a little bit of theater and perhaps to let you know that it is fresh-avocados, diced red onions and roma tomatoes are the main ingredients, a couple of websites that claim to have the receipe also say orange juice, lime juice, serrano pepper, cilantro and sea salt. For my entree I got chicken enchiladas verdes ($7.50), very yummy. No room for dessert!
Another menu item that comes highly recommended but we didn't try is the prickly pear margarita, maybe next time!
Great Italian restuarant! Sadly, the original location at Leon Spring got flooded. There are three other locaitons that still serve good food, but the place is just not the same as the old local. Nevertheless the food is great!
This was originally made in an effort to control downtown flooding. It has turned out to be one of the prime tourist draws of the city. It's mostly restaurants and night clubs, but a portion runs past the River Center Shopping Mall as well. Some sections are are not heavily frequented so just be aware of where you're walking, especially if you're alone at night. You can pay to take a barge ride around the area, and dinner cruises are offered as well. The ticket booth is opposite the Hilton "Palacio del Rio" hotel.
