A Walk Along the River
by VeronicaG
As we finished up our tour of the King William District, we noticed a walkway meandering along the narrow San Antonio River. Since it was a pleasant day and we had a few minutes to spare, we made the decision to explore the area a bit.
There were more than a few ducks, geese and cormorants lazily paddling in the water. Soon we were greeted by a jogger and then a fellow walker, as we followed the paved path along the river.
A woman tossing bread to the ducks came into view, then this pretty view of the bridge reflected in the water.
FYI: This walkway was situated along Guenther Street near the Water Authority and the Guenther House.
Tex's Riverwalk Sports Bar
by Ewingjr98
Good luck finding something original along the Riverwalk... our first afternoon in town, we wandered past the big chain places like Coyote Ugly, Dick's Last Resort, Howl at the Moon, Hard Rock Cafe, and numerous other name-brand unoriginal places until we finally saw Tex's Sports Bar. It had a cool name, and who's ever heard of a chain sports bar, right?
Even worse than a chain, it turns out Tex's is a hotel bar! It is part of the Hilton Palacio del Rio. It's clean and nice, but touristy, expensive, and pretty dead.
We selected a bad first bar in San Antonio, and we knew our luck could only improve.
Mexican Fast Food
by cochinjew about Mama Margaritas
Non descript functional architecture for a fast food restaurant. exterior somewhat gaudy.. how i wish it was Gaudi?
the service is good enough. the food is prepared right in front of you, fixed menu, but a good place to go for a margarita.. chalupas, chicken fajita with guacamole, strawberry margaritas
The Alamo
by shargurl
The Alamo is a great spot to visit while in San Antonio. It is probably the most visited spot in Texas. Step inside the sanctuary and you will be transported to a different time, a time where battles were fought for freedom.
San Antonio can be very hot and humid, so if you aren't from the area (local Texans are used to this), come and visit during the winter months or early spring. There isn't any air conditioning and the heat can be swealtering.
The Alamo..

The Alamo is a definite must see. So is the Riverwalk, Ripleys believe it or not, Hard Rock Cafe, and so many other interesting places.
The Alamo, and the Riverwalk are unique to San Antonio, and you won't see them anywhere else. They are full of interesting things to do. Learn about the facsinating history, take a ride on the boats, try many different types of food, or just stroll along the river, and enjoy the serene beauty of the place. And an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else.
