Visit the Alamo. Whilst very popular with tourists, it is still full of atmosphere. The visitor centre can be packed, but has interesting models showing what happened. It is worth reading up a little - a key part of Texas history. The riverwalk follows the river an canals in the heart of downtown San Antonio. It is a cool and peaceful way to get about town during the day. Alternatively, take one of the river boats to see the city from the water. In the evenings, the central riverwalk is lined with restaurants and bars. It is great to sit out and watch the people going by with a beer in your hand.
Henry B Gonzalez Convention Center

Well, I thought I would post pictures of the Convention Center as I've come here many times for the bigger conventions in San Antonio. The biggest one being TMEA, or Texas Music Educators Association. Since a lot of people visit San Antonio for business first, the convention center and connecting hotels are right on the River Walk! So, when it's time for sightseeing, dinner, or a drink after the seminars it's right there.
Just some fun information from the website:
-The Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center (HBGCC) plays host to more than 450 events each year with over 750,000 convention delegates from around the world.
-The HBGCC once built as part of the 1968 HemisFair is but a memory as it has expanded into a beautifully decorated and spacious facility.
-The HBGCC spans an impressive 1.3 million square feet to include 63 meeting rooms, 3 beautiful ballrooms, 4 exhibit halls with a contiguous space of approximately 440,000 sq. ft. and 7 registration areas.
-The HBGCC complex also features the Lila Cockrell Theatre, a 2,521-seat Performing Arts Theatre.

Ever thought about seeing the sites on horseback? Well, when I came across this gorgeous Palamino, parked right in front of one of the stores.. I just couldn't resist...
Had to get a hand to heave me up, but once there, I felt right at home.. ;-)
Fav. Breakfast Taco
by ChartIt about Rita's Fiesta Cafe
This is a local spot, normally super busy. But they have a wonderful friendly atmosphere and sometimes this woman singing Spanish versions of disney songs to her laptop. The food is hot, quick, cheap, the service is very friendly. The restraunt is filled with Macaw Parrot decor. I normally only go for the breakfast tacos which are inexpensive when you consider their size. But the service is quick, though I have had an order be missunderstood and I eneded up with double the amount of food I wanted. Though it was nice that day as I was driving home for the summer and wasnt hungry until I reached OK! They do serve lunch and dinner. I love their potato, egg, and cheese breakfast taco. You only need one unless you are super super hungry. One taco fills up half the 12 inch plate.
Not just the Alamo!

If you want to have a better feel for what the Alamo was like you should see the other missions. Especially the Mission San Jose, it is the only one that was fully restored. Please refer to the travelogues.
