A One of a Kind Country Western Bar
by dtimoske
Just a few miles west of San Antonio in the town of Helotes, is one of the most famous country-western bars in Texas. Willie Nelson is friends with the owner and has played there many times. It has an authentic country atmosphere, so bring your boots and two-step the night away. It really is a fun place.
To get there, simply take Bandera Rd to the west until you reach Helotes.

Texas Barbecue
by ATXtraveler about County Line
Folks who are looking for an all-you-care-to-eat type atmosphere for Texas BBQ would be fools not to stop in at the County Line, which is originally an Austin based company. Its branch here on the Riverwalk in San Antonio is a great place to bring a large group for dinner. The meals are served family style (of course you can also order a la carte if you like), and include all the sides you can imagine as well as too much meat for the average carnivore when you order the “Cadillac” plate. Beef Ribs, Sausage, Brisket, Ham, Turkey, Chicken, and a few more things that slip my mind are all included in this meal. All this is complimented by a tasty Shiner beer, and/or a sweet tea.
My personal recommendation if you are going a la carte is the Beef Ribs. Dinosaur bones are the best way to describe the look and feel of these monstrous ribs which are absolutely delicious. I think they taste best with a cold Shiner Bock beer, but to each their own. My personal recommendation if you are going a la carte is the Beef Ribs. Flea Market
by cochinjew
One of the largest Flea Markets in these parts, it extends into three different areas, many many acres of shops selling all sorts of chochkes and if you are a bargain hunter you are in a for an experience.
I was with a local from San antonio and a Kickapoo from EAgle Pass and a doctor from Mexico.. they were all revelling in the bargains to be had. I was rather bored but spent time photographing the fat people who were there, who were in the majority
lots of bargains in silver, furniture and all sorts of knick knacks. go there when you have the time..
