Holiday Inn Riverwalk Hotel
Holiday Inn Riverwalk Hotel is situated directly on the River Walk, it is a short stroll from the Rivercenter Mall, The Alamo and many other downtown attractions. A Jacuzzi complements the heated outdoor swimming pool. While the neighborhood is filled with numerous dining venues, guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the hotel's Windows On The River. Accommodations are done up in a Southwestern color scheme of oranges and blues. Among the amenities are cable TV, data ports, voicemail and work desks. Many rooms overlook the River Walk. Although these are the highest priced, they are well worth the additional cost, especially at night.

...and at this end of the Riverwalk
I have stayed here a couple of times. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful but, the rooms are very small by both Holidayy Inn and local standards. Especially for the price (this isn't New York!).
Unique Quality: Across the street from the Majestic Theater and two blocks from the children's museum. Although it is on the Riverwalk, it is still a short "River-Walk" to get to the festivities. Don't eat at the hotel. Even breakfast is questionable when there are so many local places so close.

Great Location
The hotel is within walking distance to many attractions. The Alamo is within maybe a 10 minute walk, the River walk is in your back yard, the Mexican shops is 5 blocks away, and if your in the mood for a play the Majestic is right up the road as well.
i stayed at the holiday in riverwalk for the nation gathering in san antonio, texas. i thought the hotel and stay was nice but the service and workers were a little SKETCHY....me and my group stayed from july 4th-july 10th, and throughout those 6days i didnt meetany of those workers,no greeting or anything...and believe me we were in and out plenty of times. i think they could defintly work on that a bit but other than that the breakfast foods are good and the overall stay was something i couldn`t forget with the memories that were made there.i would recommedthis hotel to anyone that is looking for a hotel in walking distance to alot of attractions and basically anything.it is in the perfect spot. p.s. thank you holiday inn riverwalk for an unforgetable experience.

Some people expect Caviar when they can't afford Shad Roe...
The Holiday Inn Riverwalk was the perfect place to visit San Antonio...the only thing I can say in a negative manner is the Elevators...they are very fast...but in order to access the Parking Garage you have to change elevators on the 7th floor...
The room was not what others have posted...we had a clean room...a maid that was always on the floor when we were...and offered us everything we needed...
The Hotel staff was not rude..and did what I would expect from anyone in their position...(by the way my balcony door stuck just before it slid to the hatch...and all I did was lift and it closed)
There was a High School reunion going on and they were having fun and it was infectous..
The bar was manned by a nice College-age Texan waitress that served cold-beer..great burgers...at a reasonable price..
But for a location...gosh it is perfect...right out the backdoor is an amazing confluence of Stone...Botanical gardens...and the San Antonio River...looping through a maze of wonderful exciting attractions...on one stretch you may hear a band performing a Hank Williams Standard...then a fine acoustic guitarist signing next door...you don't even need a seat to enjoy...The Riverwalk is a worthwhile destination for a 3-4 day getaway...and at 89.00$ a night...The Holiday Inn...is just right...
Non cancelable and non refundable transaction

We made a reservation in April for a December Anniversary --with confirmation number--we canceled this resevation in September--They charged my bank card for a full night stay for not showing up--responed with e-mail telling them we had canceled the room in September--They wanted Cancelation number--We told them we lost that information in our computer system HD--but they should have information on there system--they e-mail back saying our room was non cancelable and non refundable--so no refund will be issued--Be Careful at this Hotel. Ask more about cancelation policies-
Beware the bed
by A TripAdvisor Member
We were in San Antonio to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We requested and were CHARGED for a QUEEN size bed. First we were given a room with 2 double beds-thinking the hotel had made a mistake and may need the other bed- we called the desk and ask for the QUEEN size bed we reserved- they promptly gave us another room- expecting a room with a bigger bed imagine our surprise when now we had a room with one SMALL bed. We should have kept the first room maybe we would have gotten some sleep and had less back and neck pain if we had each had our own bed. Not until we were checking out did they tell us they didn't even have Queen size beds-they sure did not have a problem charging us for something they did not have. It also took 3 request and 9 hours to get a packet of coffee delivered to the room. The location is nice and the hotel was clean, just beware the bed.
Not a bad deal

Couldn't have asked for a more convenient hotel. Right on the Riverwalk with a ticket booth/boarding area for the canal boats just outside the back door. All personnel we came in contact with were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and convenient, just did not have a good view from the patio. within walking distance (3-4 blocks ) of the Alamo, Imax theater, Trolly office. On the 2nd night the light in the bathroom burned out & before we finished breakfast, it had been replaced. Drug store close by with sundry food items, but no "grocery / supermarket".
excellent hotel

From February 2-5, 06 we stayed at the Riverwalk San Antonio. Everyone from checkin desk to maintenance we encountered on the elevator was friendly and made eye contact. We requested info on the Rodeo and what the concierge did not know, he checked on and got back with us. Directions to attractions were given in a friendly yet professional manner. Our room was made up promptly. Restaurant staff was pleasant and efficient. We were there for a small convention and the banquet meal was adequate and served professionally. Perhaps based on other opinions we read, the hotel has done some customer service training. If so, it has surely paid off because we had absolutely no complaints and the location is great. One does not need a car for many of the local attractions. We would definitely stay there again.

Hotel Pools

WIll be staying in SA this summer - Which Riverwalk Hotels have the best outdoor pools ???
Re: Hotel Pools
by counsel14
I've been to the Riverwalk at least a hundred times and have never seen an outdoor pool at any of the hotels on "the Walk". There are a couple of hotels in the city center that have outdoor pools. Try the Hilton chain first.

Here's a list of Riverwalk Hotels with outdoor pools, the hotels vary in $$$ range:
Hilton Palacio del Rio (located on 5th floor)
Westin Riverwalk (3rd floor, nice)
Hyatt Regency (Rooftop w/ bar)
Drury Plaza (Rooftop)
Drury Inn and Suites (Rooftop)
Hotel Contessa (Rooftop, very posh)
Homewood Suites Riverwalk (Rooftop, pretty bare)
Holiday Inn Riverwalk (pretty bare)
Watermark Hotel (Rooftop, VERY posh)
These are all outdoor, Riverwalk pools. My choice for sun, ambience, and comfort would be either the Hyatt Regency or Watermark (depending on your budget!).
