In general, I think you'll find that most sectors of the retail and food/entertainment industry in Texas don't change hours for Presidents Day...although some stores do have Presidents Day sales...

The San Antonio River Walk

The San Antonio River Walk is really one of the most iconic places and reasons to come to the area. It really is a MUST SEE attraction.
It's usually the center of all celebrations. So, in Christmas it's decorated in MANY Christmas lights. On St. Patrick's Day they even die the water green!!
During the spring, fall, and summer nights it's very delightful to walk around and see the different area. While visiting last summer I took this first shot of the ducks swimming on the river while others were dining along it. It just represents a fun, pleasant summer afternoon. :)

How about some rousing music to speed your way as you travel around River Walk in downtown San Antonio.
This is A South American band who were really great! We bought two of their CDs. Ran into them months later playing in Galveston. The music is very haunting.
San Antonio Jazz

The Jim Cullum Jazz Band, based here, plays classic jazz in the traditional style. The band even has a regular show on Public Radio, featuring some distinguished guest stars. And the club has excellent service and provides the right atmosphere. Wear nice clothes, but coat and tie are optional.

There is no one favorite. San Antonio is the home of Mexican food at its best. Try any and all of it and enjoy!
Many on the Riverwalk are superb. Tamales, burritos, Chili renos, cardne Asada....all of the best of the best.
The Pride of Texas

We walked over to the Alamo one afternoon - just a short walk from the Hyatt. I guess I expected more - but it is a fairly small building with an annex containing a small museum - smack dab in the middle of high rises and busy streets. The Alamo was actually a mission that was never completed before the Battle of the Alamo. The museum does a nice job of walking you through the sequence of events. The grassy area inside the mission is a nice quite oasis with lots of shade trees.
I made the mistake of commenting about how small it seemed while in range of an elderly Texan. Lesson learned - The Alamo is very important to Texans!
Just in front of the Alamo, next to the street, is a large monument to Texans that have died in battle.
