Location, Location, Location!
The Hyatt Regency has to be one of the best placed hotels in San Antonio! Not only was it across from the Alamo, it was directly situated on the River Walk. It made our comings and goings very convenient!
Aside from spectacular design, the service was very good. Glass walled elevators zipped you to your room, from which you could see eleven stories down to the atrium. Lush plantings filled the lobby.
Our 11th floor room was luxurious, comfortable and close to the fitness room and sky pool. The roof top pool was small with mostly children splashing around in it. There were plenty of lounges and chairs; a few tables. A bar served cool beverages or adult selections. The view from the roof was expansive!
Off the lobby area, CHAPS, served breakfast, lunch and dinner. The breakfast buffet included waffles in the shape of the state of Texas. Now, that's over the top--they were delicious!
Although pricey, I think it probably compared to other hotels nearby. We thought the cost of lodging well worth it! Valet or self-parking was available; an indoor garage was across the street from the hotel.

Great Hotel in a Great Location
Stayed here for 4 nights in August of 2004. Really enjoyed the hotel for both it's ammenities and it's location.
A channel of the river runs right through the hotel and you can step out the back door right on to the Riverwalk. Not just anwhere on the Riverwalk but smack dab in the middle of the action. Night clubs and restaurants as far as the eye can see. The much beloved (by Texans anyway) Alamo is a block away.
Shops, restaurants and 2 bars in the hotel. A great gym and pool on the top floor looking out on the city. Rooms were large and well appointed and the view from my 12th floor room was impressive. At least 500 rooms, but the service was such you never felt like a number.
A great place for a conference as you can duck out the back door as soon as the day's work is done and stroll the Riverwalk and all of it's lively night life.
Unique Quality: The roof top pool looks out over town in all directions. Just below the pool is a well equipped gym with at least 30 treadmills and elliptical trainers.
There is nightly jazz at the small riverside cafe just outside the back door.

Best kept secret
No, we didn't stay at the Hyatt Regency but it is a great place to dart into when you have to go. Situated downtown on the banks of the Riverwalk, the Hyatt Regency San Antonio hotel offers a combination of classic elegance with old Texas charm and service. . There are some nice shops on the street level. A restaurant and restrooms on the second level.

Hyatt Regency San Antonio On...
Hyatt Regency San Antonio On the River Walk at Paseo del Alamo 123 Losaya St. San Antonio TX 78205 Tel: +1 210 222 1234 Fax: +1 210 227 4928 Around $180 US per night
Unique Quality: Couldn't beat the location on the Riverwalk. Jim Cullum's Landing on the Riverwalk had live jazz every night which was great. And the rooftop pool was awesome - unfortunately it was a bit too chilly for a swim in January! The Health Club was on the rooftop level as well - great view!

Awesome staff
by A TripAdvisor Member
We were driving across the country and had just one night at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio. From the minute we pulled up to the hotel, the staff was amazingly helpful and friendly.
They helped us remove our mountain bikes and stored them for us, as they would not fit in their garage. Even though they were short on bellhops, one of the valets brought our luggage up so we could go eat dinner immediately because we were starving.
The check in clerk upgradged our room for free! It was so nice to have such amazing service after driving for 9 hours on the road. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
up to hyatt standards
by TripAdvisor Member mjungman
this hyatt was newly remodeled and is as esthetically pleasing as any room that i have ever stayed. the trendy nuevo style rooms are functional and stylish. try to avoid the corner rooms which are a bit smaller than the others. the room size overall is quite comfortable in a standard.
the staff was friendly and courteous. the three bars in the hotel provide plenty of in hotel drinking space. jim cullum's jazz band in the hotel bar sharing his name is phenomenal even if jim's wit might not be.
also, having stayed in most of the nice hotels in the riverwalk area, this one occupies has the best location in the middle of all the action on the river. another nice feature is that nearly all rooms either face the river or the alamo.
the negatives are that the room was a bit stuffy at night despite setting the a/c below 55F. the bed, though visually appealing, did not have the same comfort level of a marriot or westin bed. next, only two of the main elevators go to the river level of the hotel. so, unless you know which twp of the six those are, you may get in one in which you can go no lower than the lobby. this is an interesting "safety" feature; however, it many times leaves the hotel's many guests waiting to use the one elevator which goes only between the lobby and river level. lastly, the pool on the roof is literally smaller than a lot of hotel hot tubs. however, the roof does provide a nice view of downtown and the river area
i would rank this hotel ahead of the following hotels in which i have stayed: marriot rivercenter, marriot riverwalk, holiday inn and the hilton palacio del rio.
a good place to stay
Fantastic - the Hyatt is more then the sum of all its parts!
by TripAdvisor Member P.Jordan
My husband and were in San Antonio for a wedding the first weekend in December. After reading some of the reviews I knew the Hyatt was going to be nice but I did not expect it to be perfect in every way. Our stay exceeded all expectations. The staff was curteous and helpful all during our visit. Love "Chaps" we had a wonderful breakfast every morning and I found the prices to be very reasonable, the food is delicous, and the chef making my waffle in the shape of Texas was marvelous. We had late night drinks one night, a late night dessert another, plus the Jazz band playing in the lower level on the water were great as you sipped a margarita. The Riverwalk is at the doorstep, of course in December it is more then gorgeous and festive. As you check in and out the staff does a wonderful job moving people and giving each guest at the counter their undivided attention. The elevators fly up and down and one never waits long for the lift. The Alamo is just across the street - and to see it all lit up at night or in the early morning mist, is a bonus. As far as parking goes, well maybe $21 is a bit high for valet parking but when you come back into the city after visiting and the parking garages are full and traffic is bumper to bumper it is fantastic to be able to just drop the car, the keys, and go your merry way. You don't have to use the valet parking - for self park in and out you pay $15 and the garage is just across the street. We took the car out once a day so we opted for the $10.00 per 24.00 hours. The rooms are nice and large, the beds are soooo comfortable, and the view of the atrium was perfect. The Hyatt just added to our wonderful weekend in San Antonio visiting old friends. I highly recomend this hotel.
