Wow, that's a ways from Downtown. Looking at the system map, it looks like you can walk about a mile to Gillette Boulevard and catch a bus to South Park Mall, where you can transfer to another bus to take you Downtown.

I would probably just take a taxi or, better yet, find another hotel.

The mission trail (1)
by GUYON
The Mission Conception is the first Mission of the trail.
It was established in 1731 and has a splendid Spanish Church.
I was the center of the colonists'religious universe, housing the Father President of the local Church.

Something for the children
by TheWanderingCamel
If you're bringing children to San Antonio, a visit to the Majik Children's Theatre may be just the ticket. A full-time, professional children's theatre dedicated to providing exciting and affordable live theatre performances for children (and adults) of all ages, the theatre is a great favourite with San Antonio audiences.
Check the website for the 2008 programme of plays and musicals.
The Majik Theatre has its home in the historic Beethoven Hall on South Alamo, just by the entrance to Hemisphere Park. The Hall was built in 1913 to replace an earlier concert hall built by the Beethoven Mannerchor, a German men's voice choir that first started singing together in the city in 1847, and was purchased by the city in 1920 when the choir built a new concert hall. Even if you can't attend a performance, and especially if you're a theatre-lover, a peek into the theatre with its brightly painted foyer and auditorium will give you a little buzz. It's so great to see what can be done to foster a love of live theatre in children and the company appreciate the interest in their work.

Tequila's
by Ewingjr98
Tequila del Ray, just across the street from Lone Star Cafe and next to Pat O'Brien's is a new bar in a great location. With a friendly DJ (he was happy to show us his sound system for 10-15 minutes) a friendly staff ("try this tequila") and a hands-on owner ("Guess how much a CO2 valve costs?") Tequila's is bound to succeed.
We stopped in and immediately had to try a shot of their best tequila...straight up--no salt or lime. Then we chilled with beer for a few rounds, visited with the staff, and headed downstairs. We were the only people in this underground bar with a pool table, large screen TV, and long dark bar. After a few beers and a few games of pool, we decided to go get dinner.

The Alamo
by SmileyLeSa
One San Antonio's well known attractions is the Alamo. It's centrally located in the downtown area. As most visitors, we made sure to stop by and take some photos. Unfortunately, it was past regular hours of operation, so I was unable to go inside.
However, if you are fortunate enough to get there during operating hours inside you will find three buildings - the Shrine, Long Barrack Museum, and Gift Museum. Exhibits on the Texas Revolution and Texas History can be seen here. There is also a Garden to explore.
Admission is free. Hours of operation are 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Mon - Sat and 10:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Sun. There are longer visitor hours on Fridays in the summer.
The official Alamo website below offers alot of information for visitors.
