by VeronicaG about Chamade Jewelers

I wanted to find a pretty piece of silver jewelry to take home as a memento, so while we were exploring La Villita (one of the oldest settlements in San Antonio) I stopped by Chamade Jewelers.

I found an interesting torquoise pendant on a silver chain, but there were other unique pieces crafted of silver that were very nice. Rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, charms and pendants filled the jewelry cases. I noticed they also sold estate jewelry.

While I was here, at least two people came in to have a piece of old jewelry redesigned. The service was excellent and the saleswoman spent quite a bit of time guiding me around the sales room to the different jewelry cases.

Chamade is open daily and accepts all major credit cards. Silver jewelry

Comfort Food at some of its finest

by ChartIt about Lulu's Jailhouse Cafe

Think everything you ever wanted in a greasy spoon restaurant. The place is local, and they have a nice bakery. However you do not go to Lulu's or as some people know it just as the Jailhouse Cafe for variety. You go for either the 3lb cinnamon rolls. I mean it they are 3 pounds of hot gooey goodness and they are like 5 bucks a peice. Make sure you bring some friends to share one of these behemoths. Or you go to this place for their country fried steak. It is some of the best I have ever had. Not a lot around it in terms of neighborhood but the restaurant still has some nice 50s diner feel to it. Definatly the country fried steak this monster peice of heavenly battered meat is coated in a nice gravy. It really is a huge portion I was able to make three meals out of it!

by keeweechic about Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery

Mi Tierra Cafe & Bakery is a great Mexican restaurant and very popular too. A very colourful place right in the Market Square. Good choice of menu and breakfast 24hours. Very good service.

It has it's own bakery which was very popular (see photo in Market t'logue). Well I have to admit that I wasn't hungry the day we stopped for lunch. It was really hot outside and I was more thirsty. I searched the menu for just a cool desert and in the end they accommodated me with a big bowl of vanilla ice cream.. yes I know.. but I wasn't hungry. However I did have a couple of bite samples of a very delicious quesadillas meal which was a huge meal. Service was excellent.
