Day Trip in the Hill Country by elmendorfs
HEY! THANKS to EVERYONE for the tips! I had a great time. Sunday I drove northwest to Governmet Canyon http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/government_canyon/ and hiked the Joe Johnson trail and Lookout trail. Then north to Boerne http://www.visitboerne.org/ and across 46 East to New Braunfels. At New Braunfels http://www.newbraunfels.com/ , I jumped in the spring/river to cool off a bit, then headed back to the airport. For dinner Sunday night we went to Mamacita's, which was very nice. http://www.mamacitas.com/sanantonio.html The rest of the week I spent downtown. Stayed at the Omni on the river walk and did lots of walking. :) Hot and humid, but hey, it's June in Texas! Plenty of sunshine, but enough clouds to keep it from 'blazing' and quite breezy which also helped combat the heat. The riverwalk was great as I remembered, and the evenings were especially nice. Look forward to coming back and having more time for fun!
