River Center Mall is so famous for its tie to the River Walk. It's a great place to visit and get souvenirs. You can also get anything else. It is connected to a few of the hotels as well as a movie theatre with an IMAX theatre included. It has its own ambience. Each day there is a Peruvian Mountain group that comes and plays along the river. You can also see pictures in my Dining entry of Chili's on the River Walk.
We went in December for the luminaries and lights and got a bunch of Christmas shopping done. All normal mall stores are there as well as the food court. Buy things you would normally buy at a mall: clothing, electronics, games, etc. You can also get some souvenirs here as well. Normal prices....
Korean family owned restuarant opened October 2002. Atmosphere and service is spectacular!!! Food is primarily Japanese with a few Korean selections available.
Open lunch and dinner except Sunday's...Offer delivery and catering for special events. Sushi Sampler $13.50 with soup and salad...generous portions!
Bulgogi $5.99 at lunch...
Although I doubt that this is a local's favorite, tourists will get a kick out of The Republic of Texas. Waiters show up at your table in full Texas gear, complete with the cowboy hat, and the menu is definitely Tex-Mex - it might not be the best Tex-Mex in town, but at least the lunch menu is very affordable. If you feel like trying out a new drink, I highly recommend ordering the River Water cocktail, which is exactly the same color as the murky San Antonio River! The Republic of Texas also offers Riverboat dining (check out the Web site for more information) and at night it goes from restaurant to nightclub. The taco salad was quite good, and the River Water cocktail tastes better than it looks!
Surely one of San Antonio's best-known landmarks, this stretch of the San Antonio River snakes its way through downtown. The busiest parts are crammed full of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. But other, quieter parts are very serene and peaceful, with no crowds. It's best to explore all of it, if you can.
If you tire of walking, take a boat ride (see the web site below for phone numbers), or just sit and hang out. Listen to one of the strolling mariachi bands. Window-shop. The River Walk never gets really old.
