Peaceful and Romantic Get-away

We haven't stayed at many bed and breakfast establishments, but The Brown Pelican is a wonderfully romantic place to stay if you want to give into indulgence. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Chris and Yves, our gracious hosts, offer serenity and class in their home to contrast the excitement and carefree feeling of South Padre Island. We stayed in the Santa Ana which is decorated in blue and had a shower (no tub) with the sink in the living area (not in the bathroom). Everyday we would wake-up and have breakfast from the first floor patio overlooking the harbor with clouds sprinkled throughout the sky. Our meals consisted of a mix of diced fresh fruits (strawberries, mangoes, cantaloupe, blueberries, bananas, grapefruit, etc.) and a main meal such as quiche, scrambled eggs, or omelets with toasted breads. There was a lot of hot coffee available as well as orange juice. One morning we chose to fish at 7:30am and they were even able to accomodate us.

Unique Quality: The Brown Pelican which is located next to the water has a wonderful view of the sunset from the wraparound porch on the second floor. We appreciated the wireless internet access and lack of a TV. We were able to borrow beach towels daily and even a beach umbrella (but we couldn't get it to stay standing). My darling appreciated the chocolate kisses in the room and hallway.
