As a ranking officer of the Union Army, Lt. Col Locke was afforded a rather nice cabin during his incarceration. The actual cabin is made out of material that was all taken from the camp yard, and was reconstructed based on drawings that appeared in the Colonel's personal diary.
Tyler is 30 minutes from where I live. It is a fairly large town. It hails the Robert E Lee High School. It has two universities, Tyler Junior College and UT Tyler. It is also known as the Rose Capital. The Rose Garden and Harvey Convention Center is located here off of Front St. It has many museums, different churches, malls, amusements, and cultural aspects.
