Travel Tips for Waxahachie
500 Oldham Street
by VeronicaG
This home is said to the the finest Queen Anne style home in the city and is listed on the National Register.
It is circa 1888-1897. I think the asymmetrical design of the home contributes to its attraction. It's a stand out! Although its not evident from my photo, this home goes on and on towards the back of the property.
Notice the polygonal corner tower, irregular shaped roof, the patterns of the wood siding, corbelled chimneys and finials. The home is painted a deep, deep red with cream trim. It was once the home of J. Strickland. He was the first president of Texas Power and Light Co. and helped to develop interurban lines in the Dallas area.
I featured this home on my introductory page.
Bethlehem Revisited!
by VeronicaG
Lay your holiday shopping aside for an evening and be part of the drama in Bethlehem Revisited, a reenactment of Mary and Joseph's journey to this Biblical city and the events therein. This event was given from 6:00pm-9:00pm on the first two weekends in December.
Menacing Roman soldiers, jostling crowds, Three magnificent kings, shepherds and their sheep, lumbering camels, costumed townspeople all help to create a wonderful Christmas message.

Bethlehem was created by Central Prebyterian Church in Waxahachie, who invite the public to be witness to the Christmas story acted out in a meaningful way. Donations are accepted, entrance is free.
An amazing quilt featuring The Last Supper was displayed in the church's sanctuary. It is a traveling exhibit presented by Dr. Donald E. Locke of Waxahachie.

Scarborough, the Village
by VeronicaG
After entering the faire, we came upon a Court Dance in progress. Proper Lords and Ladies danced in tune to the Renaissance style music. Welcome to Scarborough!
Their costumes certainly looked authentic! I tried to picture myself putting a toe onto the dance floor while wearing flounces and pearls....this atmosphere didn't just happen, it was expertly created.
This performing company has character and improvisational acting instructors, departments on history customs and manners, company music directors, theater directors and event directors.
