Econolodge in Vernal, Utah: Lodging is a PROBLEM near this monument
At the time of our most recent visit (June 2008), finding lodging was a major problem. Due to the recent discovery of a new oil or gas field in the area, oil and construction companies flooded into the region, filling up the motels and hotels. We did find a room in Vernal, Utah, in an Econolodge. The price was inflated to an outrageous $135 for what should have normally been about a $50 room. The room was cramped, not especially clean, and the laundry room was filthy. The "breakfast" consisted of Tang and day-old doughnut holes.
DO SOME CAREFUL RESEARCH before scheduling an over night stay in Vernal, Utah.
