Circle D Motel
475 W. Main St., Escalante, Utah, 84726, United States
The Circle Around D
It was a reasonable stay for one night. The price was $62 plus tax. That seemed like a bit higher than expected here, but there is not much competition.
Unique Quality: It had a standard room, so nothing really unique. It was at the west end of the town, and across form a places to eat-Prospector Inn and restaurant.
Directions: This is Hwy 12 through town
Best deal in Utah
$30 a night! No kidding. And it's clean and has a world class shower: large and excellent water pressure.
Unique Quality: Nothing fancy, but 5 miles from Escalante National Monument. Very close to many other fine hiking areas. Clean and quiet. Run by friendly people.
Directions: Very small town. You'll find it.

Great Place to Stay in Utah
This motel, under new ownership since February, 2008, is undergoing massive renovations and improvements. The rooms were very clean, had refrigerator, microwave, coffe pot in room, great beds and sheets. The new owners are updating wiring and plumbing, cabinetry, flooring, adding a restaurant as well as laundry facilities. The location is in the heart of the most beautiful scenery we saw in the Southwest. Don't miss Calf Creek Rec.Area, and be sure to hike the lower falls. The new owners of this motel go out of their way to be sure all your needs are met. Great place to stay, great value, highly recommended.
You Get What You Pay For
This motel was pretty much what we expected except there was construction going on at the site that started quite early in the morning. The room was fairly clean with the exception of the bathroom floor. The manager was very friendly and helpful. I would not choose to stay in this motel for any lengthy stay. It was a one night stay on the way to Bryce with few other choices in the area.
I see a lot of potential and work going on at this property. This was a good location if you are driving through the area and want an inexpensive place to stay.
Definitely stop and do the complete hike at the Escalante Petrified Forest State Park. This is not the area you want to stay in if you are visiting Bryce. It is a bit far away.
I would suggest that they invest in firmer beds. The bed we had, while a queen, did not offer good support. However, the lodging was inexpensive so I guess you sometimes have to compromise some things.
Overall, if I was traveling through the area again, I would stay there again.
A great jumping off point
Circle D Motel is a great jumping off point for travelers interested in Grand Staircase/Escalante National Monument. Hiking in abundance. Great local restaurants, Quietude. 4X out to awesome hiking and rock lounging. Ken and Deb are excellent hosts and make you feel like you're right at home (but better). The rooms were clean. Crisp clean sheets and towels, just what you need after a long hike in the desert. And the beds were comfortable too. No street traffic to keep you awake at night or people partying into all hours of the night. Not fancy, just good home folks and a good value in today's economy.
Peaceful and helpful
We stopped in Escalante for the night in high summer after coming through the Capitol Reef NP en route to Bryce Canyon. We have 2 small children and found the Circle D to a perfect nightstop - it being one of the few motels in the area with tables and chairs on the long woodern veranda, meaning we could put the kids to bed and sit with a beer and admire the stars. The hosts were helpful too in directing us to a breakfast venue, our room had 2 double beds in it, very clean room and bedding, cable TV that worked, free wifi, and piping hot water. Sure the fittings are a bit dated but I think that gives it a bit of charm that the chains lack.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Circle D and indeed Escalante for a tiny town night stop. Obviously if clubbing and partying til the small hours are your thing, perhaps it's not for you!
We stayed there for a night as we were traveling along the wonderful Highway 12 on our way to Bryce Canyon from Moab. It is a route I recommend and Escalante is a good choice for a one night stop. The scenery is truly beautiful.
The hotel is OK, payed 55$ for a night in a King-size bed room.
The hotel seems to be undergoing some refurbishment which is needed btw, as it looks pretty old... However everything was clean. Just killed a couple of spiders as we got in but Escalante is a place in which you'll get many.
It is already a good price to stay for the price, if they manage to refurbish it a little bit it will become something to recommend.
If you stop by try the nearby Blue Cowboy restaurant for dinner.
Very pleasant stay
Pleasant property that appeared to be undergoing renovation. The room we stayed in was basic but quite adequate with refrigerator, air conditioning and two comfortable beds. The bathroom had older fixtures. Sink, toilet and shower were clean, though obviously worn, but the entire room could have used a thorough cleaning. The bedroom was quiet and peaceful. We got a great night's sleep. The owners were friendly and helpful. The price was right. Definitely a good place for a one night stay for a family on a budget.
Nice Stay in Escalante
We stayed 4 nites at the Circle D and had a very pleasant stay. The room was nicely laid out, very clean, and the refrigerator and microwave were nice additions. Having wireless hi-speed internet was a definite plus! (someone we knew in Escalante couldn't believe that we had better internet service than she did!)
Everyone was very helpful - even came down to help us get connected to the internet on our arrival there. Nice porch in front of the rooms with chairs and a table for each room - they were occupied every nite - nice way to meet your neighbors!
Only negative was the lack of good lighting over the desk area - made doing anything at the desk at night difficult.
Overall, a really nice place to stay! Would definitely stay again.
