Book Cliff Lodge

We were going to Arches and all the rooms in Moab had been booked. So we got on the cell phone and booked through hotels.com which told us there was only 3 rooms left in Green River all at Bookcliff. WOW what a dump! the first building was closed and falling apart. The hall to our room was dirty and the the floor was mushy like you would fall through at any moment. The room smelled moldy the shower didn't work nor did most of the the lights outlet or anything else electrical. There was a dirty old coffee pot n the bathroom. the beds were old and springy but not sign of bugs (thank god!) we crashed for about 5 hours (easy to do being that we had beenup for over 28 hours) and left int he middle of the night, which turned out good in the long run because we got to arches before sunrise and got to see the stars and enjoy an empty park for a few hours.

Unique Quality: the best thing about this place was leaving!

This is a remnant of what once was a better maintained and run motel. But I searched for cheap and got it. The front portion of the motel is closed up. The back has some long term stays, and the others that show up are of Indian origin; like from India living or visiting in US. Named after the local cliffs that look like book ends, this was in it's glory years back. I went through Orbitz, and was not able to see pictures in detail, or get a refund even if I did not like it. Two local motels that have been operating for yers is Robber's Roost, and Sleep Hollow; both around $40-50 a nite.

Unique Quality: Got a fridge, microwave and NO coffee maker here. Also they did not have an ice machine; so make your own, I guess. The price was "unique" at $39 a nite. I came a day earlier than anticipated so got that day for $30. Well it beats the $80 price down road at a chain. Were slippers for carpet protection. The bed sheets were clean and the bath remodeled.
