Hurricane Inn Travelodge

We arrived off-season, for our second stay in this motel in the same month, in January, mid-week. When we were here the first time the rate was $29 a night. We drove in without reservations for the second stay (way off season for this area) and arrived at 8pm on a night when it was starting to snow. I was a single mom with a 6yo son. When I walked into the lobby the manager quoted me a rate of $53! I told him we'd been in many times and had just stayed there. I think there were maybe 3 other cars in the dark parking lot. He said the rate again, glanced down at my son, and told me to take-it-or-leave-it. Needless to say, we left the motel and went somewhere else. The next day the banner was back up advertising the lower-rate. I've NEVER allowed visiting friends to book there again and tell this story to anyone who will listen.
