Purple Sage Apartments
This was the 2nd of two properties I’ve leased from Moab Property Management, and the fallback for a few days until we could get into choice #1. Our apartment (The Contemporary) was one of eight, one-bedroom units in an old but very well-kept complex about three blocks off of main street. The units are individually decorated so no two are alike, and each of them include a kitchen, bathroom, and queen or king bedroom. Seven of the eight include a set of bunk beds on one end of the living room for accommodating families or groups of up to four. Pluses were the quiet location, pleasant yard with grill and tables for lounging, bike storage, shared hot tub, free wifi, and free laundry facility: no coins needed!
We had a little snag with the keyless entry but someone from the management office cheerfully arrived to fix it just minutes after we called them - on a weekend night, no less. All-in-all, a good choice for a good price so yep, we’d do it again.
Unique Quality: Walking distance from Moab restaurants and shops; free laundry and wifi; nicely decorated; clean; quiet; well maintained. Entry codes are provided upon payment so late arrivals are never a complication.
I will recommend a top-floor apartment to avoid overhead foot noise. As with all rentals offered by this agency, rates are per-person, and full payment is due at time of booking but they're great folks so no worries about potential rental scams. Rates vary depending on number of people, season and unit so I'm not noting prices.
2015 update: just had a second stay at this one.
We really like rentals for longer stays as they provide privacy, space and amenities we actually use often for less than hotel rooms. True, you make your own bed in the morning, and they all have their little quirks but all-in-all they've worked out to be perfect choices for us. This two-person cottage was home for a couple of our trips to Moab. It's perched on a hill on the edge of town, has a deep wraparound porch with expansive views of Moab and the La Sals, wifi, satellite TV, tiny kitchen (no oven), bike storage and comfortable king-sized bed. Clean, quiet and private, it was perfect for a couple, and very hard to leave!
I booked it through Moab Lodging and Property Management and can recommend them as a great resource for rentals in the area. They handle a portfolio of holiday accommodations from economy condos to 3-bedroom homes, and were friendly and professional to deal with. Full payment is required at time of booking - which makes some of you nervous - but these are honest folks so no worries about internet scams here. They also provided helpful guides on operating the heating/cooling units, electronics, etc., 24/7 contact numbers, and called us several days into our stay to see how we were doing. Nope, it doesn't get any better than that.
Prices will vary based on size of rental, amenities, season, and length of stay so I won't note PP rates. See my review for the other property we've booked through this agency.
Unique Quality: For our specific cottage: good bed with lots of linens; strong wifi; huge, covered porch with 360" views; kitchen; comfortable living/dining area with lots of windows; quiet; privacy; professional and reliable rental agency; great price. Entry code is provided upon payment so late arrivals are never a complication.
I did notice some signs of wear and tear on our 2014 stay that could use some attention but the porch ALONE makes up for any shortcomings. The kitchen is not particularly well equipped so I don't recommend it for serious cooks but that wasn't a problem for us. While not far from the Moab business district, I don't consider this one walking distance as it would involve a trek along a busy highway.
