Travel Tips for Murray

Walking the Jordan River...

by Talshiarr

Walking the Jordan River Parkway trail is a wonderful experience. As the years go by since its completion, the trees grow taller and the path becomes more and more secluded and natural. It runs most of the length of the Salt Lake valley, and Murray has just completed enhancing the section running through the city limits. From the south to the north you pass through a golf course and some wonderful marshy areas with cat-tails and water birds. The whole length is paved and easily accessible to walkers or bikers. It's on the west side of town right on the bank of the Jordan River. Maybe not my fondest, but definitely the memory that will stick out forever about Murray was seeing the grand old stacks imploded. They had been landmarks for all my life and almost 70 years prior. The dynamite explosion was like an executioner's rifle sounding. Seven seconds was all it took to destroy 100 years of history.
