Hot Air Ballon Ride in Park City

Okay, this is the "hot end of the stick". There were two enormous butane gas burners only inches from our heads to inflate and continue inflating (or else we come down) during the flight. The noise these things make is horrible, but when they are silent......

Here you can see Zohara and I waiting for liftoff after the ballon is inflated and the wind is right. You have a wicker basket to stand in and the whole time you wonder if it is strong enough to hold you as you are literally "standing on air".

We flew over this new housing development on the outskirts of Park City, you could look down and see people, even wave and shout good morning at them.

You can see the height of the other ballon in front of us, only several hundred meters above the ground.
If you look close at the right side of the picture you can see Zohara holding her cup of coffee, now that is the way to fly...

Here is how the ground looks, looking straight down. I asked the operator if anyone had ever tried abseiling down while at this height and if I could try it. I suppose you can guess that he would not let me do it :O((((

This view up into one of the ski areas that surround Park City gives you an idea of why you should take one of these rides.

This is a once in a lifetime picture, nearly perfect, the kind I would wait for and never get, it just sort of fell into the lens. The ballon over the city outskirts,with the green hills and the perfect sky, wow, how I love this picture.

All good things must come to an end they tell me. Well here the ballon has landed and we were on our way later that day. We will look for other places to do this again.
