When To Go To SLC?
by 1romeo
Hi, I'm definitely sure about going to Salt Lake City in this year. Any ideas about when are the best months to go there? Also, when do the air tickets get cheaper? (departing from Philadelphia or NYC). Thanx!

There's a lot to do here any time of the year. Utah is a big recreation state. Of course, in the winter months we have the best snow for all winter activities. In the summer months we have camping, fishing, hiking, sight seeing, shopping, etc. What do you like to do?
Southern Utah is a BEAUTIFUL place to visit and if you can afford the time, you should go there too.
Sorry, i don't know when airfare is cheap to come here -- maybe just watch for sales.
Travel Tips for Salt Lake City
why have just one?
by richiecdisc
We entered to the scent of you guessed it, potpourri and scented soap yet the little house was so cute and inviting. It was a place we could imagine living though I personally would have preferred it being in Jackson closer to my Tetons and Snake River Brewing. The owner came out and greeted us warmly; we asked rather impishly if she did indeed serve coffee and we were led to a rear perhaps afterthought room which had been set up as a sort of cafe. It wasn't just coffee, she had an espresso machine and quickly whipped up the java we so craved along with a huckleberry smoothie. It would have been a nice place to read a book on this cold morning but the owner had obviously been penned up with no one to talk to and bent our ear a bit. She was curious what brought us to what had become her little town and told us all about how she had moved to her husband's hometown for love despite the cold and the town's penchant for gossip. I'm sure she was sad to see us leave and to be honest, it would have been easy to stay for another cup, a round of gossip that was likely coming, and a few more tidbits of life in a small town, USA. But the Latter Day Saints were calling and now when they asked “why have just one?” it was not necessarily referring to wives, it could be beer. They had a brewpub and after touring the house that Brigham Young built, I would surely have more than one, beer that is.
Alta Ski Resort
by GracesTrips
This was an extremely nice ski area. I haven't been to many but I talk with a lot of people. From Florida, Michigan and some locals. They say Alta is one of the better ski areas. Better than Park City is what a local family said. Park City would have 40% less snow than Alta. Alta does not allow snowboarders. So, this makes the ski resort even more appealing to skiers. They don't really have a "bunny slope" to speak of like in Big Bear. They have what they call "Easy Way" runs. Luckily, I've done a little bit of skiing to not be intimidated by the "Easy Way" runs. Had this been my first experience, I doubt I would ever ski again. The surroundings were just gorgeous!
Two major areas for Alta - Wildcat Base (intermediate and advanced) and Albion Base (for beginners and intermediate). Hint: You can purchase your ski lift tickets for a $5 discount at Ski-N-See store in Downtown SLC. In 17 degree F weather, snowing and some wind, you will need hand warmers, face protectors, an alligator (goes around your neck and can cover your mouth and nose), hat, ski goggles, ski socks, mittens (gloves don't cut it) besides the ski clothing and undergarments.
Park City
by KaiM
Take a ride east, cross the mountain range and visit Park City. It´s a great ski area and nice city. Just half an hour away from Salt Lake City. Some Olympic ski races took place in Park City in 2002.

The liquior laws are uniqueto this state, but one can have a good drink, or a bottle of wine with dineer at most restruants. Bow tie pasta with chicken and cream sauce. What an excellent meal. But don't limit yoursefl to just this. Most everything on the menu is done with perfection in mind.
Mormon Temple area
by VolsUT
The area surrounding the Temple Square is full of Cafe's, bookstores and downtown mall.
The temple itself is amn amazing sight, at its best after dark but be aware that the temple closes before dark in most months of the year.
