Check out Southwest Airlines, they fly from Oakland, you can book and pay on their website. It is easy to navigate, I think you will find airfares less than Delta which uses Salt Lake as a hub. www.flysouthwest.com

Get a view of the city's skyline from somewhere up in the hills. I took this photo somewhere on 11th Ave between the State Capitol and the University of Utah, March '97. The view from above Capitol Hill is awesome at night when everything is lit up. I haven't been up there during the day but I'd bet it's good then too.
It was in the 90's F every day that I was in SLC in June, 2005. Still, with that heat, there was still a day of rainstorms. Don't only pack shorts and t-shirts if you travel to SLC in the summer; pack an umbrella, too.
The visitor center has some great information about the Great Salt Lake, the island, the early inhabitants, hikes, activities, a movie, etc. It is a good place to get started on a first visit to the park.
Red Iguana... there's so much I could write, but it's best to visit!

Well, you can't just go in and have a bite to eat here. Even if you don't want any alcoholic beverages. You have to join. It's cheap though - $4 for the two of us. So, it's lunch time, we have a beer and ordered our food. What we're not used to being from California is smokers in a restraurant. I guess it's still allowed in Utah. I used to tolerate it before but now it really bugs me. Oh well, we sat away from the smokers and that was okay. Food was alright. Nothing spectacular.
