Need hotel recommendation

by jackfruit

We are arriving in SLC and renting a car to drive to Yellowstone. Since we are arriving late at night into SLC. I would like a hotel recommendation near the airport that's reasonably priced for one night. We plan to start for Yellowstone early the next morning. Thanks!

The possibilities appear to be

Super 8 - about $51-55/night and their advertisements guarantee that they will have the cheapest rate

Microtel ($55)

Holiday Inn Express ($75-79)

La Quinta Inn ($80)

Marriott Fairfield Inn ($79-$104)

Comfort Inn ($94) and Comfort Suites ($81-$91)

Courtyard by Marriott, ($119-$129)

Thanks! So anything reasonable along I-15 near the airport should be good looks like. How's the town of Layton? Safe?

I do not know - actually I have only stayed in town in SLC and have not used any of those hotels. But I would be surprised if it wasn't safe.

Safety is your last concern here in Salt Lake. Your first is getting converted.

Travel Tips for Salt Lake City

FREESTYLE SKIING - Fifth-place...

by NightStar

FREESTYLE SKIING - Fifth-place after his first jump, Aleš Valenta came back to win in the freestyle aerials. With a double full-double full-full that scored 129.98 points, Valenta defeated Joe Pack and Alexei Grichin for the gold, Aleš Valenta's first Olympic medal.

hometown resort

by ruthiebaby88

Snowboarding at Brighton is the best!! This resort has plenty of trails from easy to hard and accessible off course routes as well. Pick up some hitchers at the bottom of the hill to show you the ropes. This is perhaps a less glamorous resort but cheaper and friendlier too.
They say that SLC has the best snow because the salt water evaporating from the lake comes back down in drier and fluffier snowflakes. I think it must be true because i think it's the only place where you can actually see the crystalline structure of the snowflakes when they land on your clothes.

Whats the Alcohol Content?

by Jmill42 about Everybar Utah

Save that girl on the Real World who went to New Orleans and then became a delinquent (NOLA will do that to you!), there aren't many crazy parties going around. Maybe its because the state has the lowest alcohol content in their drinks out of all 50 states. This equals not much of a nightlife or drinking scene. New reason for BYOB.

Good food

by Yaqui about Melina's

This is a very nice restaurant. I enjoyed the decor and enjoyed the food. The services was not bad at all. It was nice because it was right across the street from my hotel, which is always a plus. I had the typical Enchilada dinner which was pretty good, not great, but good!

Antelope Island

by GuthrieColin

In the center of The Great Slat Lake Is an Island that was named Antelope Island. It was the most interesting place I visited while in Salt Lake City.

For anyone who is interested in Goelogy this was an interesting little venture. Some of the rocks on the Island are among the oldest in the world.

For those of you not interested in rocks the Views may be another reason to visit. From the "Buffalo Point Overlook," which is a short hike to the top, you can see great views of the lake and surrounding Mountains.

At the Gatehouse you will be charged $8 for entry into the park.
