Nice hotel, great area
This hotel was a great stay considering it was not a major national chain (at least not as major as a Hilton or Marriot). The rooms were spacious and afforded a beautiful view of the city, and even included a small balcony. Beds were comfortable and clean, television had a great selection of channels. Hotel contained two restaurants, as well as an AMAZING bar on the very top floor called the Sky Bar. The bar is surrounded by large storm windows and gives a breathtaking view of the mountains and surrounding areas. Drinks were reasonably priced, and the Karaoke on Tuesday nights was a blast. Staff was very helpful and nice, and many great attractions are in walking distance. This hotel is highly recommended. The only downside is that the internet was hit or miss, but it's free, so what can you do?

It's a decent hotel, we've had good luck and bad luck with Red Lion Hotels.... this is a good one. The room was clean, and the staff was friendly. It was a little bit too much of a walk from Temple Square....

Red Lion Salt Lake Downtown
The Red Lion in downtown Salt Lake City is a nice big hotel in Salt Lake City with lots of nice amenities, but one major drawback. The hotel is in a prime area downtown just a block from the train, surrounded by a few restaurants, and with lots of nice big rooms. Unfortunately, the 13th floor of the hotel has a dance club... we stayed on the 10th floor and our room shook for most of the night thanks to the bass from the club music. Luckily we booked our room on Priceline for just $50 + fees, so it was worth the ass pain. If I had paid $100 or more like other guests I would have been looking for blood.
The rooms are big with two queen beds or one king bed. The hotel has free wi-fi, a fitness center, lots of free parking, and more.
