Austin's Chuckwagon Motel: Sweet dreams in Torrey
We think this place is just a great spot in Torrey. Evidently, everyone else thinks so too: the place was packed. Austin's checks off just about every box on the motel wish list: clean, spacious rooms; refrigerators; satellite TV; pool and spa; walking distance to a market and restaurants; guest laundry; free wifi; well-maintained grounds; great staff; variety of accommodations for groups large and small.
Rooms in the motel have two queen beds and can accommodate up to four. Two-bedroom cabins have kitchenettes and living areas and hold up to six. There's even a family suite with 3 bedrooms, foldout couch and full kitchen that can hold up to eight.
A well-stocked store/deli/bakery (owned by the motel) is right across the parking lot: you can get free coffee and hot chocolate there in the morning, and they'll pack you a box lunch for the park.
The few minor downsides for some folks might be sketchy wifi reception (a Torrey problem and not the motel's), no lift to the second floor, no coffeemakers in rooms, and no breakfast but heck, at $75 bucks a night (per room - not cabin) the place is a steal. Would I book it again? You betcha.
Spotless rooms, very nice grounds, close to groceries and restaurants, guest laundry, quiet, nice pool, free wifi (when it works), great staff
