Bob and Susan are wonderful hosts, great breakfast. The house is right on the lake Champlain and the Ransom Bay room is awesome.

The Commadore's Inn: Stowe Hotel for Overnight Stop

by Sunniebgi

Our family of 5 were doing a driving tour of the northern half of Vermont in August 2010. On our second day we headed from Burlington to the Waterbury/Stowe area. We found this hotel on the internet but did not book it. We drove into the area around 4pm, got directions to the hotel and headed for it. We had no problem getting a room that would accommodate us (many will only allow for 4 people). Check in was a breeze. We enjoyed the lemonade and cookies they had put out for guests, then headed to our room, put on our swimsuite s and headed for the small indoor pool. Nice but indoors (which is good in the winter). They do have an outdoor pool but it was a little more crowded than we wanted. The dining room and food were good. They had a buffet dinner in the evening, reasonably priced and enjoyable. Buffet Breakfast, included in the price of the room, was also very good. a 3 acre pond/lake behind the hotel also was also pretty nice, as they have Kayaks and a paddle boat for guests to enjoy. The hotel itself is a little dated, but they have renovated in the last year and added on some new rooms to make the hotel itself, a little larger. All in all a very nice stay for a good rate.

The hotel is situated just as you drive north along Vermont Route from Waterbury to Stowe. Easy parking, good food, pleasant and helpful staff.

Salt Ash Inn: Centally located historic Inn minutes to Skiing

by NYCTravelerGuy

You can't go wrong staying at this Inn, its a short 10 minute drive to both Killington and Okemo Mountains. Check in at the bar and have a taste of some local beers. The food is good and inexpensive. Wake up to a free breakfast with hot coffee, eggs, cereals, juices, home fries and some days french toast or pancakes.

House in Morristown: Nice house in the woods!

by Florida999

http://vermontproperty.com/detail/Vermont/stowe-rentals/506/

We rented this for the Christmas week and loved it. It was basically a double-wide trailer, but a very nice one in the perfect ( for us) location. Miles from any city!! We had to drive a few miles up a dirt road through the woods, under a small one-lane covered bridge to get to it. The road was regularly plowed plus I have snow tires, so the snow was not a problem.
I loved the kitchen, it has everything! The house also came with a laptop and the air hockey table. It had lots of room and our son enjoyed sledding and snowboarding down the hill up front. I think I want to rent this again next Christmas.

Very nice location, well equipped house with lots of room.

Main Stay Suites: Nice place to stop in Burlington

by 807Wheaton

We spent one night at the Main Stay Suites in South Burlington. It's a good location for a visit to Shelburne Museum and the delightful town of Burlington. It is located in a cluster of hotels in Shelburne Road. The suite was spacious and the decor very nice. There was an abundance of TV Channels. We also had a full kitchen with a coffee maker and coffee. The bathroom was very small but clean. The face cloths and towels were thin with the ends coming loose. They were labeled with the name of a defunct hotel next door. The only thing offered in the bathroom was shampoo and soap. The lobby was very attractive with a fireplace that unfortunately was not turned on. It would have enhanced the area tremendously. There was free internet service and newspapers in the lobby and breakfast was served there also.
Breakfast was fresh orange juice, yogurt, fresh oranges, hot and cold cereal, bagels, doughnuts, pastries and boiled eggs.
The swimming pool was in another hotel. We had to drive in the car to get there. The pool was adequate and clean but it sure needed upgrading.
We paid $95.96 for a sixty plus rate. Check in and check out staff were friendly and helpful.

I would say the well appointed, large room was the best feature at this Main Stay Suites.

1836 Cabins Waterbury Center: Nice cabins in the woods

by Florida999

The cabins were less expensive than renting a condo at the ski resorts, plus I liked the location a lot. We were practically in the middle of the woods!

The only problem was that there was so much snow on the road from the main road to the cabin, that we had to put snow chains on the truck. The owner kept plowing the snow, but it just kept snowing....( not complaining here, we went there to ski) .

There were snowshoes and sleds available for our use, which I thought was nice.
The cabin itself was not anything fancy, but functional.

Note: we stayed here a few years ago (2008)

Beautiful location in the woods! About 20 minutes from both Stowe and Bolton ski areas.

Grunberg Haus: In the Waterbury area

by thefullvermonty

We live in Vermont and we like to travel around the state. We don't usually stay overnight around here but some friends from out of state stayed here and recommended it. Built like a Swiss or Austrian chalet (I forget which). Located out in the country but just a few minutes drive from Waterbury. Dark rustic exposed wood beams, big stone fireplace, super breakfasts, very friendly but not pushy innkeepers. Very relaxing.

Cozy gameroom, nice back deck with garden, evenings by the big stone fireplace and they have free marshmallows. They have trails in the woods behind the inn which we did not use but another guest told us were nice. The bed was as comfortable as our new one at home.

Ardmore Inn: Great Woodstock B&B

by WheninRome

This is the second B&B that we have stayed at in Woodstock and it has become our new favorite. I liked the baked-fresh sugar cookies and tea that were available all afternoon, as well as the smell of freshly baked sugar cookies that continuously wafted through the house. My wife liked the gigantic shower and hot tub located within our private bathroom. We both liked the fact that it was within easy walking to the town center. The house has been beautifully decorated and restored, my favorite common room being the back sun/reading room where I spent a wonderful hour reading through the Appalachian Trail Club's magazines, which were available to borrow. The owners are a delightful couple transplanted from California and their cooking skills are superb, though I am not terribly fond of quiche.

Location, proprietor's friendliness, atmosphere, sugar cookies and tea

Best Western Waterford, VT: Best Western Waterford, VT

by WheninRome

After being chased out of the Adirondacks by over three inches of rain, we wandered into Waterford, Vermont as an unexpected, but welcome detour. The staff let us check in early (about 12:00 pm) to change and dry out; however, the first room we received had a persistent leak from the ceiling. Perhaps we were meant to be wet?

The staff once again accomodated us with a new, dry room where we were able to spread out our gear and get cleaned up. The room was nice, clean and spacious. The hotel had a pool and hot tub, which we did not use having already been wet enough for a few days, and even a couple saunas, fitness room and game room. For $86, I am sure it is more during foliage season, we couldn't beat it.

pool, sauna, hot tub, good views (I imagine when not clouded in), fitness room, game room, relatively cheap
