The Mountain Road Resort Stowe

What was once a charming small Vermont hotel known for it's personal service and accomodations has been reduced to what appears to be the staging ground for a landscaping service and a low income apartment rental office. Apparently the "resort" still operates but you would not know it from the lack of interest of the staff and the front desk. The place is dirty, dark and rundown. Apparently they are renting the best suite units in the hotel and merely renting the rest of the rooms for whatever they can get. We immediately moved to the Stoweflake where the staff 1. has a clue and is not rude and 2. the rooms are clean and tidy.

Unique Quality: Nothing is special about this disaster of a hotel.

We checked into the Mountain Road Resort during an early December blizzard. The staff was incredible. In the moring they brushed off our cars and shoveled a path to the doors! Where else in Vermont do you see that? The room was very cozy and spotless and we got a fantastic deal as it was early season mid-week. You can walk to a number of bars and places to eat or visit the 24 hour a day market across the street.

All in all a fantastic place to stay with a staff that will make you feel right at home!
