One of the many small breweries in the area, located in Windsor. They have a small restaurant, tasting room, and a observation area, with documentation on how they brew their beer. I did try the Harpoon ale, which was pretty decent. No guided tour, so this probably isn't worth the trip if that's what you're after. For those who have been on brewery tours and just want to sample the beers - it's worth the time.
Road Trip to Waterbury
"Great Scenery Along the Way"
During a fall foliage road trip, my friend, Amy, and I drove 5 hours to Waterbury from Portland, Maine, just for Ben & Jerry's ice cream! We spent 2 hours at the factory, then drove 3 hours back to Boston! It was an insane day of driving, but we saw the amazing White Mtns of New Hampshire and some quaint towns in Vermont. And the ice cream was definitely worth it!
"White Mountains of New Hampshire"
It was a long drive from Portland, but we did get to drive through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They are actually known for good skiing during the winter, but they're also quite lovely in the fall!
