We spent 3 nights here in mid October and loved it. Great hosts, interesting guests and a perfect spot to anchor ourselves while we roamed the state looking for a retirement property. One of the most charming villages in the country. We'll definitely return to the Deer Brook Inn.

Great Place to Stay in VT
We had a great stay at the Deer Brook in while on our honeymoon. The hospitality is out of this world and the food is delicious. Look forward to furture visits at this B&B!
Our three day stay at the Deer Brook Inn was one of the most pleasant during our visit to New England this fall. The inn is lovely but with the comfortable feel of a home. Our room was beautifully decorated and the bed provided a restful night.
The hosts, David and George, could not have been more warm and welcoming had my husband and I been personal friends. A cozy fire on a cool evening, suggestions for dinner along with reservations made for you, a map of the area and tips for sightseeing were all provided with graciousness.
Breakfast was an absolute treat each morning. I brought home a couple of recipes that were generously shared. The dining room is arranged to invite conversation, and the friendly atmosphere caused everyone to linger in the morning enjoying a beautiful start to the day.
Nice Inn shame about the location
We chose the Deerbrook inn after reading all the good reviews.
The room itself was lovely, very nicely decorated and the inn was very welcoming. It could have done with a radio in the room (no T.V but we knew that when we booked). We were recommended restaurants for the evening and they were happy to book these for us if we wanted.
However we found the location disappointing. The inn is on a busy through road (could hear traffic during the night) and is a good 5 miles out of town with nowhere nearby to eat or anything to do without a drive out. This was a shame, if it had been in Woodstock itself it would have been ideal.
We ended up going into Woodstock in the afternoon and eating early to avoid having to drive out again. When we got back to the inn there really wasn't anything to do. There is a T.V in the lounge but we didn't feel that use of this was encouraged.
The breakfast was good, homemade muffins, fruit and omelet.
If you want a late night stop over this is would be great, on the main road and easy to find. If you want somewhere in town with lots to do within walking distance this is not the place.
Another Great Visit Inn Vermont !!!
My wife and I have been visiting the Deer Brook Inn for the past five years. Our last visit was this past October. Each time our visit gets better. I just had to write so others can experience the same great time. The Deer Brook Inn's attention to detail needs to be commended, from the impecable room decor which includes 5 bedrooms one being a suite with it's own living room and television. On this visit we stayed in the suite.
In addition the dining room is so inviting with a large dining room table that seats about 8 guests or if you want your own table for two that is also available. What is nice about breakfast is you can choose what time you wan't to eat. The hardest part will be leaving the table.
Dave and George are the perfect hosts, and I guarantee will make you feel like one of the family. Go and experience their hospitality for yourself. Wake up and smell the coffee and feather bed eggs and local warm maple syrup and you surely will not be disappointed!
Loved everything about our stay
This was our first experience with B & B lodging and we loved everything about it. The Deerbrook Inn is a quaint antique home that is full of charm and character. The Inn Keepers, David and George, were extremely friendly and knowledgable about the history of the house and the area. They are incredible cooks, as our breakfast each morning was delicious. It is a little out of the way (a few miles from town) but totally worth the extra drive. My husband and I will now make B and B's our lodging of choice.
Deer Brook B & B was awesome!
From the time we arrived at Derry Brook Farm until the time we reluctantly said our good-byes, our stay was bathed in the warm and welcoming hospitality of our innkeepers, David Kanal and George DeFina. Together, they have the unique gift of making one feel simultaneously like family and royalty. We were truly indulged by their generous manner. During our stay, we had the opportunity to occupy two roooms. Each was decorated in a period late 1800's decor with a beautiful handmade quilt, antiques, accessories, soft lighting, all color co-dinated in a comfortable setting designed to make the guest feel at home. The downstairs living room was complete with lovely antique furniture, carpets, chandelier all tastefully displayed. The dining room was in itself a piece de resistance with the antique dining room set, buffet and chandeleir. But the coup de gras was the daily three course breakfast being cooked while the guests were seated at the table. While George served the first course of fruit and juice, David completed the main entree in the adjoining kitchen. Each day the guests were served either a vegetable omlette, pancakes with fresh blueberries from their garden, waffles with Vermont syrup, or Eggs Benedict, all perfected to the guests expectant palate! As each one finished their scrumptious breakfast, both David and George chatted amiably with the guests regarding their plans, while supplying them with invaluable local information in order to maximize the day. Upon our return each evening, we were greeted by either one of our hosts inquiring about , and eager to share our adventures of the day. We were truly inpressed with the services, quality of our meals , accomodations but most of all the wonderful warm hospitality of our innkeepers! We would heartily recommend the Derry Brook Inn to prospective guests and would hope to return soon to see our new friends, David Kanal and George DeFina! Thank you for a most memorable visit with you at Derry Brook Inn!

The Deer Brook Inn is superb in every way
My wife and I like to spend vacations traveling, and have always tried to stay at B&B's when we do; over the years we've stayed at dozens all over the U.S and Canada. So I speak from experience when I say that the Deer Brook Inn itself, as well as David and George the hosts, present the best of the B&B experience. We discovered the Deer Brook Inn a few years ago, and have made a tradition of returning at least once a year. In every way, you are in trustworthy hands here.
Vermont itself is full of variety, and no one region has every feature that makes it endearing, but if you're just starting to explore it, or particularly if you don't have time to see the entire state, the Woodstock area provides a very good sample. Its attractions range from stunning geographic features like Quechee Gorge and the Appalachian Trail to the work of world-class artisans at Shackleton Furniture and Simon Pierce Blown Glass - to name only two of each.
Finally, make sure to tell David or George what sorts of things you like, and try their suggestions. Their knowledge of Vermont is both broad and deep, but their skill at matching people with places is uncanny.
Wonderful, warm experience
This was our first visit to woodstock. George and David made us feel very welcomed and provided us with great advice on restaurants and things to do. The breafast was fantastic. We would love to go back sometime soon.
