More about Woodstocker Inn
Convenient Inn but power outtage spoils ending
Wow, after reading reviews of recent guests, it sounds like the new innkeepers are wonderful. We stayed at the Woodstocker just a month or two before the apparent ownership switch, so some may consider my review to be irrelevant.
Anyway, we thought the location was great and the Route 4 noise did not bother us. Ask for a room farther from the road. We walked down the residential street and into town in the afternoon, and then walked over to the park in the morning and did a quick hike up part of Mt Tom.
The negative to our experience was that the power went out in the middle of the night. I believe somethig happened on Route 4 because a large portion of the town was without power. Therefore we had a totally cold breakfast by candlelight of granola, fruit, and juice (no coffee). The granola was great and we've been trying to replicate it ever since, but it didn't outweigh our cold, dark showers! I know that power outtage was out of the control of the innkeepers (Nancy and Tom) but I thought that a slight discount should have been offered because of the cold & dark shower, and the hot & stuffy night (our window didn't open and it was August).
Based on the reviews of the new owners, we would definitely try this Inn again in the future.
My favorite in Woodstock
Unusual for me - I have no complaints. Attractiuve inn with fun and friendly but not hovering innkeepers, tasty breakfasts and detailed attention to guests' comfort. Be warned - this is a B&B in Woodstock, which means it's on sometimes noisy Route 4 and doesn't have phones in the rooms. Does have TVs, a library, and facilities for tea and coffee-making. If I return to Woodstock, I'll hope to stay here. I really enjoyed it.
far exceeded our expectations
We have stayed at Woodstocker for the past few years and found out it had recently gotten new owners. We weren't quite sure what to expect, but we found Dave and Dora to be wonderful, energetic, and hospital owners. They make a wonderful hot, made-to-order breakfast and have good snackies and drinks (and beer!) available all day. They are perfect innkeepers and shared with us their exciting plans for the upcoming year. We will definitely return to Woodstocker as our continued annual tradition.
A Great B&B in Woodstock
I highly recommend this B&B! David and Dora (and Stanley) are doing a great job with this place. The breakfast is wonderful... complete with homemade granola and wonderfully "cooked to order" sausage and eggs. Complimentary bevarages (coffee, soda, beer) are available all day. The renovated library mixes the old home's bones with contemporary colors and fixtures to make for a visually interesting and relaxing place to sit and read.
The hosts are great. The B&B is very nice. Woodstock is charming. And the region is beautiful. What more can one want??
See you next year!
A Wonderful Stay in Woodstock
We were in town for a wedding and the soon-to-be-newlyweds recommended that we stay at the Woodstocker B&B. We are so glad that we did!
David and Dora were most accommodating hosts, very gracious. Everything about our stay was truly exceptional: the extremely comfortable beds, the lovely rooms, the library, the french press organic coffee, the homemade granola, compote, yogurt, and the hot breakfasts that they kindly prepared (even though we slept-in past breakfast time -- thanks so much for understanding our wedding schedule, David and Dora!).
It was an incredible value, and I'll be back.
A wonderful Vermont weekend
We found the Woodstocker charming and very comfortable. The room was spacious and well furnished, and the amenities certainly made us feel welcome. Breakfast was plentiful, including a tasty buffet of local breads and rolls and a selection of preserves and a delicious dish of eggs cooked to order according to one's preferences. David and Dora are gracious hosts, and conversation with them at the breakfast table, and evenings in the library, was a pleasure. We would certainly stay again at the Woodstocker if and when we should return to the area, and we can recommend it unhesitatingly to friends, relatives, and anonymous readers of this review.
Very comfortable, delicious breakfast, charming hosts, excellent amenities!!!!!
Very comfortable, cozy, warm and inviting - amenities are excellent. The breakfast that David cooks is delicious, especially the omlette, to say nothing of the sausages! Location is perfect. The re-modeling will provide some luxuries - but the charm is in the old building, the library, the conversation with Dora and David.
A Great Getaway
The choice of The Woodstocker Inn was ultimately a great one for us. Our first trip to the area, we did a lot of research in terms of the inns in the area and liked what The Woodstocker had to offer. In particular, we liked the fact that all products used are organic and that the inn is a Green Hotel, or environmentally friendly. The inn is owned by Dora and David, a fabulous couple from the UK who researched inns all over the world and chose to make their home in beautiful Woodstock. The rooms are large and are each quite different. Dora and David have made and are making numerous improvements to the inn that reflect their ultimate vision. A newly renoved library room is intimate, warm and full of fascinating books. Breakfast includes one of the best homemade granolas ever, homemade yogurt and compote, french pressed coffee and a decidedly English twist on a different choice of a hot breakfast item each morning.
The inn is a short walking distance from town and many of the local restaurants.
We felt very comfortable at The Woodstocker, slept incredibly well and truly look forward to our next visit with Dora and David.
Right at home and very friendly
We are from the UK and stayed at the Woodstocker Inn during our first trip to Vermont. The area is beautiful and David and Dora are brilliant hosts - and cooks!
They go out of the way to help you find your way around the local area and recommended a brilliant walk to us up Mount Tom. Whilst in the Inn we were able to help ourselves to complementary chocolate and even a nice cold beer from the fridge!
Stanley (their placid female dog) is very cute and it was lovely to have a pet around, which made us feel even more at home. We would love to go back one day.
Thanks for a great time and good luck with the renovation.
P.S It was so nice to be able to have a proper cup of tea!
Dora and David are delightful innkeepers, and do all they can to make their guests feel at home. Their special added touches, such as plush bathrobes and homemade granola, show their love of what they are doing. We highly recommend the Woodstocker Inn.
