The Hilton is just steps from the Metro Station and is the largest hotel in Old Town Alexandria. It has a swimming pool, fitness center, Starbuck's Coffee, and a restaurant called Seagar's with indoor and outdoor dining. The biggest drawback is the $20 a day for parking in the often inexpensive hotel with per night prices as low as $100 in the winter.
I love the huge mural of Old Town Alexandria that is on the wall near the conference rooms. We tried to pick out our house that was built in 1820, but it didn't look like the map was THAT accurate! Though it does have all of the major landmarks like the churches and city hall.
This hotel can serve nicely as a base for your Washington D.C. visit, since it's right alongside the King St. Metro stop and you can be in downtown in around 20 minutes. The Metro pass allows you unlimited use of the whole system so extra transportation is not an issue. The same Metro line stops at Reagan Intl. Airport, about 3 stops farther down if you're flying in to that airport. This hotel frequently has lower rates on the weekends so check it out before reserving anywhere else.
