Holiday Inn Telegraph Road / Eisenhower Station
I stayed at this hotel back in 2001 or 2002 on a business trip to the area. At the time this was a pretty well-worn hotel in a very quiet area. Rates must have been good, because there were dozens of high school kids here on a school trip to DC. Because of that, the hotel was noisy most of the time, and even more weird, there were chaperones guarding the hallways to make sure the students didn't sneak around after hours.
Today this hotel is still a well-used hotel in a nice location just off the beltway and near a metro station. Since my last stay here the area has grown up a bit and now, within walking distance you can find a massive movie theater and maybe a dozen restaurants. The hotel is also not more than 1.5 miles from Old Town Alexandria, so very convenient for those who want to check out some of the historic attractions or restaurants.
Other nice features here include free parking, free wi-fi, a pool and gym, and a free airport shuttle.
The Eisenhower station is just one stop from Old Town Alexandria's King Street Station, three stops from Reagan National Airport's metro, and about 7 or 8 stops from downtown Washington, DC.
