Truck Stop City
This has been a crossroads for a long time. Originally called Slash Cottage, Ashland was located on an old stage route between Richmond and Washington, D.C. It is also on what was the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, now owned by CSX. This is one of those towns where the tracks run through the center of town, making it a popular train-watching site for fans of trains. In October, 2002, Ashland made the news as one of the sites of the Beltway Sniper Attacks.
Unique Quality: I have not stayed at this hotel. The main features that they advertise are
