Downtown business class hotel

This multistory business hotel is right in the center of it all as one side leads out to main street and the other leads you out to the downtown shopping district. The bathrooms are small as almost hit the toilet while trying to open the door. The bed was large and comfortable. I am part of their frequent stay program so had drinks delivered to the room though the first night had to call 20 minutes after scheduled time to get drink. The second day I called ahead to verify. The pool was small but indoors and the fitness area provided towels, fruit and water. The parking is free though you will get tickets when you come and go. Either a room key or your bill will let you out if a human is actually there when you leave. The room had hispeed but do not have wi-fi so did not use. Just used dial up which there was a per charge call for.

Unique Quality: The bar/restaurant did not look bad and had a drink from the local microbrew there. The large atrium was very nice. Whether coming for business or pleasure this would be a fine choice.

Its on the mall

The only good thing I have to say about the Omni is that it is located on the Downtown mall. Otherwise it was a little overpriced. The room and bathroom were small. The maid's closet was right down the hall and he/she kept slamming the door all afternoon and it started back up at 9:00 in the morning. We compained to the front desk but they did nothing. It is a very noisy hotel and expect to wait in a line to use one of the 2 elevators ( I finally found the stairs that were tucked away in a confrence room behind the restaurant).

Omni Charlottesville Hotel

Hotel right in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. At the head of the downtown mall, right next to the Charlottesville Ice Park. Additionally, the Omni is only minutes away from the Barracks Road shopping center.

Unique Quality: Great location! Right in the heart of downtown, which is a lot of Charlottesville's nightlife. Additionally, there is an indoor pool at the Omni.

More about Omni Charlottesville Hotel

No hassle & much better than average food

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had a two-day stay at the hotel, arriving without a reservation. The staff was quite accommodating. The room was comfortable and well cared for. The breakfasts were a bargain, good food freshly prepared and cheap, unusual in a hotel of this quality.

Great Location. Good Hotel.

I stayed at the Omni for five nights for a meeting. This hotel is very centrally located to downtown historic Charlottesville and is right on the end of the pedestrian mall. However, the hotel is located a good distance from the University of Virginia and is not in walking distance. The rooms are nice and large but the bathrooms are tiny. The workspace is average for a business traveller but they do have free wireless internet. Additionally, parking is also complimentary. The onsite restaurant is well below average although they do have an acceptable breakfast and lunch buffet if you are in a hurry. The bar is a joke and closes early. Room service is very friendly and prompt and the food is ok. Room rates for the Omni can be average or pricey for central Virginia. During my 5 day stay, I hade three different room rates; $129, $144 and $165. The $129 was about right for the hotel. The higher two rates were getting expensive for this hotel in this location.

not the place to stay

by TripAdvisor Member smithtravel

I spent the entire night awakened by the person in the adjacent room. I could hear everything from his phone conversation with his wife at midnight to his snoring the rest of the night. Housekeeping woke me up at 8 a.m. to see if I was still in the room.

The toilet lever had feces on it. The bathroom ceiling had hair on it. The tub's no-slip stickers were dark and gave the tub a dirty appearance. The sheets on one of the double bed had hair strands as well.

I would never stay again with so many better options available in the area.

good value

We stayed at the Omni for 3 nights for a family wedding. Very good position backing onto the historic and pedestrianised main st. and within easy reach of the many attractions - University of Virginia,
Mmonticello and Blue Ridge Mountains.
Nice room ,good service and reasonable price (we paid around £100 per night.)

Great location

by TripAdvisor Member cjs121

I would say that the location of the Omni pushes it to an above average rating. Many great restaurants and quaint shops are within easy walking distance. There is an ice skating rink right across the sidewalk. It was a relatively short drive to visit local wineries and Monticello.

The staff was polite and friendly, and the breakfast buffet was good by chain-hotel standards (we had delicious omlets from their omlet station). The room, described as deluxe by the Web site, was a very average hotel room with a VERY small bathroom. This is my one criticism. I think they should rename the room "standard." There is nothing deluxe about it. That said, I think that the rate ($116 with AAA discount) was reasonable for the location.

Overall, we had a very good experience with the Omni.

Okay, but not exactly the Ritz

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed here for two nights in January and we were not very impressed. First of all, the location is excellent- it's located right at the end of the pedestrian mall in downtown Charlottesville- great access to shops, restaurants, etc. The parking lot is convenient for the most part, although you have to cross the lobby and take a separate elevator to access your room. The atrium is not as pretty as it looks in the photos online- in fact, it's actually pretty boring and small. Usually, the atrium is filled with a reception buffet and it reeks of bad hotel food. The odor, in fact, is probably the most off-putting element of the hotel. It pervades every inch of the lobby and even up into the rooms. The room was okay, but the honor bar was locked and inaccessible- not a problem, as we couldn't fathom paying 8 bucks for a shot of Jim Beam. The bedding was nice- clean and higher-thread count sheets. However, the view was deplorable- literally, all you could see was a gigantic roof coated in tar and gravel, interspersed with generators and air conditioning equipment. Not exactly the romantic Charlottesville ambiance we had hoped for. Overall, the Omni was okay, but not worth $150/night. At times, I felt like I was staying at a very nice Motel 6.

Kumanan's new Virginia Page

I have conducted my 6 month industrial training in Omni Charlottesville Hotel at Charlottesville. Apparently, I did learn a lot of things while working over there but ultimately this place really stinks and one of the inhabitable place in the world. There is not much things to see nevertheless to flirt around.
